Hey Hunter great stuff. I pitched this question to the "Nick's" and wanted your take on it as well.
If you deal petry for cap space and don't bring in a new defenseman (spend the money up grading the bottom six and goalie tandem), would you feel comfortable starting the season with ?

I don't know if i would be comfortable with the bottom pair, but its intriguing to me to see what smith and friedman can do. I like friedmans game and think if he had more playing time he might be a decent bottom pair guy with some offense, speed and gritt. Add smiths speed and play making and i can see it being successful. Might not mesh well right away but imo its worth a try, especially if that six million is used to bring in a legit goalie. A great goalie will make a decent defense better. Plus that leaves more space to resign Zucker.
