[Cam Robinson] Jonathan Lekkerimäki postws 4 assists today – a professional career-high. He’s up to 13 points in 12 Allsvenskan post season games – 2nd most in the league. The strong finish to the season is on.

He’s got the offensive awareness and hockey sense to be an elite player one day, but his skating isn’t great. I’d say his skating is maybe slightly better than Boeser’s. He also needs to stay healthy, because he lost a lot of development time.

Great to see his skill start to shine through again. He’s still only 18 years old, lot’s of time for him to continue to develop.

He’s still only 18 years old as well

I was wrong. Was too early to call him a bust.

Lekkerimaki was young in his draft class so it shouldn’t be too surprising that it took him a bit to figure things out this season. Credit to him to stay focused and keep working through it (especially when it was thought his season was over). The production is great, but seeing the process of his improvement is the best sign of future success imo.

Will be exciting to see him in the World Juniors this December.

Great fucking news. I think everyone was at least somewhat concerned earlier. Surprised to see so many assists. His shots his asset. Rounding out his game?

He saw that Canucks picking 11th this year and signing NCAA players means he likely wouldn’t be rated as our top prospect anymore so he decided to get going to ensure he will be

What a bust, right??? Wheres all the JL haters from earlier in the year now?

I say this whenever Lekkerimäki’s name comes up on this sub.

He was one of the YOUNGEST players in his entire draft class.

    Why does that matter?

The older a player is in the draft, the more likely their floor/ceiling becomes apparent. Vice versa, the younger a player is the more room they have to develop.

Lekkerimäki has faced a ton of injuries and setbacks this season (mono, broken foot etc…) and now he’s coming on strong. Good for him.

As always, be patient with these super young and talented players.

It made me really mad to see all the folks calling him a bust. I didn’t like the pick, but it wasn’t cause of his talent and you don’t write off 18 year olds that had mono. Lol. My issue was more that we have so many small wingers already. But man, Swedes have treated us good. I am starting to back track my thoughts on Lekkerimaki.

Might have some crow to eat here. This is a very impressive performance.

It’s good to see this, let’s see it again. He should be putting 2-3 point games every night in the allsvenkan

And every Canucks fan that was ready to jump is now back on the bandwagon

Unfortunately his team is down 3-1. Is his team guaranteed to move up to SHL next year?
