Jake McCabe hit on Michael Eyssimont – Tough Call Suspension Recommendation

Jake McCabe caught Michael Eyssimont with a hard hit at the blueline. Three strides and a bad angle lead to a bad result.

  1. Fair point on most people not looking at the strides and such when judging the hit. It is certainly a charge by definition. I didn't watch this game live and only went by your original video, I think maybe a few more real time speed replays in hits where you're showing a charge could help? Normally when it's in slow mo you really only look at where the hit is, etc. Maybe that's only me though, just my two cents

  2. Pretty simple call to me. Should have been a penalty and suspension. No wonder so many hockey players have brain damage.

  3. No sussy, no call. What is he supposed to do, just let him walk right in and score? The puck carrier used to have a responsibility to skate with his head UP and protect himself. WTF happened to that philosophy? Trying to pick and choose where you make contact will mean you will end up missing your check. I don’t believe McCabe was targeting the head but it should be understood that you almost can’t miss the head of a puck carrier in a natural skating posture because he tends to be leaning forward. Either you want full contact in hockey or you don’t. Make up your mind.

  4. Those choppy little steps were like, "Oh, boy! I get a chance to be a tough guy on a vulnerable player and give this humiliated crowd some satisfaction!" Look how Seider does it. His is more of a, "Keep your head up, buddy. I could have crushed you." It embarrasses the guy and separates him from the puck (usually knocking the guy down). But it doesn't threaten the guy's long-term health.

  5. This is a crazy analysis.

Very clearly took no more than 2 strides, which is textbook proper technique. Calling this a charge is insane.

"Shoulder to shoulder"?? Again, very obviously is shoulder to chest which is proper technique again.

The very top of the shoulder pad might hit his chin, but principle point of contact is definitely chest.

If Eyssimoit is concussed from this, it is purely because of the whipping effect on his head/neck from the sudden change in direction. Not from direct contact to the head.

  6. Another terrible “analysis” by this channel, if it was Player Safety half the players would always be suspended. Actually know the rules before trying to “analyze” dude

  7. It's mangina's with this kind of weak wimp attitudes that are destroying the games. Sports will disappear if they don't stop letting weak skinned kept soy boys like this host demanding rules be changed because of his or the women he cowers to's feelings… The sports world has evolved and thrived just fine w/o your kind for decades and we need to go back to sports roots. If you have no stomach for the physicality then don't watch, like you didn't before you decided to follow a narrative and destroy sports instead.

  8. Your obviously someone who never has played the game. It is a clean hard hit the strides are allowed his feet are not planted due to his momentum this is a legal check. the player receiving the hit cause the contact to the chin and in order for the call to be made it must be intent to head contact this is a pure hard hit.
