The Pittsburgh Penguins will need to address their goaltending this summer, and John Gibson is already one of the top names connected to the Penguins. While Gibson isn’t a bad goaltender, any trade for him should not include a top winger from the Penguins.

I'd trade Guentzel or Rust to get Vejmelka, probs not Gibson tho
To me Gibson isn't an upgrade and it would not be worth trading a good player. If Jarry will take a discounted salary to stay with the penguins it could work. But I'm not sure he and his agent will want that. I'm not sure who the answer is in net.
Rust isn’t that good. In reality, his actual skill dictates that he is an excellent third line player with strong defense that has had the benefit of playing on a top line with the best player in the world for a number of years. He doesn’t have incredible hands or do anything that well. Let’s not forget, Pascal Dupuis scores 60 points playing with Crosby and he’s the epitome of bottom six forward.
If they wanted Rust and a mid round pick for Gibson, 💯 sign me up. You free yourself from Rust’s contract and gives you cap flexibility to re-sign Zucker.
I would not trade Guentzel. He is the team’s best goal scorer and unlike Rust, I think he has top 6 hands and skill. I also think Crosby needs Guentzel to keep producing. If you trade Jake, you just create a massive hole which is hard to fill. 30-40 goal scorers don’t grow on trees or come cheap.
Rust, at least in my opinion is easier to replace than Guentzel. If they do keep Rust, I’d love to see him on the third line to provide a bit of offense and play a shutdown role. No more top line Rust. Bring a kid up to play with Crosby or Malkin and sign someone else like athanasiou. That would be a fun player to watch fly around in the top 6.
Gibson isn’t the answer.
Gibson coming to us feels like a dream that needed fulfilled two years ago and not now.
Its also worth noting were speculating this without even knowing who the GM is gonna be. Its fun for sure, but the new person could have completely different thoughts.

Why would the Ducks want a veteran winger? They're no way near being competitive especially if they lose Gibson.
Guentzel is easily the softest player in the league scared of anyone not in the same jersey and with sullivan as coach you wont see anyone in the lineup who plays a physical game 😂 and rust got paid then slowed production down
I would love to see Gibson in a Pens jersey but not for Guentzel or Rust. Maybe Granland and/or Carter, throw in Dumo to help with the horrid defense they have, not that ours was any better this year like you pointed out in the video lol.

I would have loved Gibson Trocheck and Miller….all 3 years ago or when they were UFA not worth the risk trading for now.
