  1. Max is spot on with most of the analysis of the pipeline here. I think I’m personally a little higher on Dylan James than most having watched a lot of nchc hockey this year. He moved up the lineup throughout the year and played his best hockey when it mattered most. Great penalty killer amazing wheels. Good shot. I think he was just in a tough position as a true freshman playing on a rare bad UND team(going to college a year earlier than mazur).

    I also agree with the LDN and niederbach analysis but by moving to the allsvenskan they’re finally able to play top 6 roles and are producing so I think there’s still a reason to hold out hope even if they’re becoming more of long shot prospects.

    In terms of the draft eligible forwards if we walk away with 2 of the ntdp kids or 1 and one of Barlow benson Danielson or yager I’ll be estatic. There’s a couple other forwards I’d be pumped with too in the first round.

    So lucky to have Max considering the quality of the rest of the Wing’s beat.

    Can we just ban paywall links on this subreddit already?

  4. Forwards who could play in the NHL next season:

    * Soderblom
    * Kasper
    * Mazur

    The logic here was that these three are so young that they still need to have a good showing at camp next year to make the roster. Kasper and Mazur in particular need to put on some muscle.

    Forwards at least a season away:

    * Cross Hanas
    * Amadeus Lombardi
    * Dylan James
    * Dmitri Buchelnikov
    * Red Savage

    Seems like there were 3 small tiers here: Hanas and Lombardi are on their way, but Hanas needs to find some consistency (he was injured a lot last season) and Lombardi needs to add weight. Both should start in Grand Rapids this year. Then there’s James and Buchelnikov, who both showed some promise but are just not ready yet. And finally Savage has been underwhelming so far but is transferring to MSU next season, so perhaps playing on a better team will let him show off some skill.

    Others in the system:

    * Theodor Niederbach
    * Liam Dower Nilsson
    * Maximilian Kilpinen
    * Robert Mastrosimone
    * Ethan Phillips
    * Albin Grewe
    * Pasquale Zito
    * Kirill Tuytyayev
    * Chase Bradley
    * Kienan Draper
    * Brennan Ali
    * Owen Mehlenbacher

    Of this list, the impression I got from Max is that only Niederbach and Nilsson are close to a contract. The others don’t have one, and are running out of time to earn one, although some are still young.
