Foligno interference on Hakanpää

This might just be the worst call I have ever seen since doing Tough Call. Marcus Foligno called for interference for finishing a check on Jani Hakanpää while he was still touching the puck.

  1. Nobody there saw that as a penalty. Except the guy who gets to call penalties.

  2. Clearly isn't interference, as even if he didn't touch the puck, he clearly tried to and was close enough on impact. But, isn't it charging? Not sure if you are reviewing this, but you suspended McCabe for nearly the same hit a few days ago. I think Foligno actually travels a greater distance, takes more strides, and skates through the check up high. I think it's a penalty either way. Sucks the game got decided on these two.

  3. This is such a joke call from the back official who changes the complexion of the game with this BS call

  4. If you don't have possession of the puck, you can't body check a guy. It was close, but as someone else pointed out, this was charging anyways. 1 out of 5 Troubas. Foligno is a greater danger to himself with these "hits" than he is to anyone else.

  5. Wow. Foligno has clearly pissed someone in the NHL off. This is a good hit. Just watched the "tripping" penalty he received. Brutal call as well. Compare this to the hit Maroon made on McCabe. From behind into the boards face first. Puck long gone. No penalty on Maroon.

No wonder the officials in the NHL are taking so much heat. The inconsistencies are glaring.

  6. Seems pretty weak for playoff hockey. Thanks MGM, I bet that ref made a boatload on this game.
