It will take a minimum of getting rid of Myers contract and to stop over paying for bad players.

Let a winger go for cheap (like a couple mid-round picks), retain 2 mil on Myers and move him for roughly nothing either way, then let Bear walk and use the cap space to get a legit top 4 RHD. Fill the 3rd pairing with depth/Abby dmen (Wolanin/Rathbone/Hirose etc).

The main thing here is to not overpay for Bear. He isn’t a top 4 dman, and probably makes more than I want to pay him for a 3rd pairing role already. He just doesn’t move the needle.

Provided they can ditch Myers and a winger they should be able to improve the blueline significantly but the thing is that they absolutely can’t miss with their signings either with pro scouting or with the contract amount. I have a lot more faith in the pro-scouting under the new regime but the actual spending money appropriately part the jury is absolutely still out on.

They’ve got the big money guys already in Hronek and Quinn. Need to move out Myers and use that space to find a Quinn partner + a PK 3LD.

Depending on OEL is defo a risk but think we’re stuck with him at least another year. Think he’ll be alright just need to not let him PK..

So I guess the 6 Mill in space created with a Myers traded to find a Quinn partner + 3rd pair PK LD.

They are going to have to give up an asset to dump Myers or OEL’s contacts.

Don’t buy out OEL. Kick it down the road another season.

I’d be happiest if they just took a year to let money expire/have less commitment on it and allow the internal solutions to sort themselves out a bit.

I’m exhausted by them always cutting corners to make things faster and it always ends up making things slower.

  8. LA won’t be able to afford gavrikov next year. My hope is they go after him

The OEL trade was my lack of faith ever again in anything frank wants. Unless a gm is willing to get fired to not do the stupid retool aquiline requires then I’ll never believe we’ll have a good defence

  10. This is a terribly depressing picture. Jet Black really really hamstrung the team with the OEL trade.

Retool is the most overused term around Vancouver Canucks.
