Watching Trouba’s interview today, I can’t decide if I’m encouraged or concerned going into Game 5.

I mean, look at Hughes in his presser following 2-straight losses to us in Games 1 & 2.. Point being, I don’t think the players like questions following losses like this and they just want the next game to happen as soon as possible to rewrite the media narratives. I think they make a response and will show hunger (please lord)

I think mostly encouraged because like Trouba said, this group has a lot of experience with the highs and the lows. However, I’m also concerned that they might not be showing enough urgency, being *too* patient, and just letting Jersey dictate things.

Even though they won two big games on the road and have all the momentum, the pressure might be on Jersey to not blow another game at home… When the stakes are this high, sometimes the expectation of holding serve in your own barn can be crushing. Even with all the postseason experience, that pressure might have been a factor for us in Game 4.

He’s saying what he needs to say. He’s giving the media nothing to feed on, he’s also not giving the Devils anything to feed on either. Just very neutral. I love it.

Here we are, just waiting for the other shoe to drop

He’s taking an even measured approach that keeps it simple. Play our game, win a road game. He’s right.

The Rangers clearly buy into that mentality of focusing just on next game. Only worrying about what you can control. Not just saying all the boring team-first hockeymans cliches, but sincerely living by them.

The thing is, I personally don’t believe in that mentality. I want to see some hot doggin’ bragodoccio. I want to see a Moses Malone who has the guts to say “fo’ fo’ fo'”. I want to see a Mark Messier say “we’ll win tonight.” I want to hear Trouba say “We’re going to go and kick the Devil’s fuckin’ asses straight to the golf course!”

It will never happen. I’m just saying, that’s how I like it.
