The Habs’ rebuild continues. They have some good young players on the blueline and in their forward ranks. The draft lottery could be a game changer.

  1. I don't think Suzuki's contract is all that bad. The cap is going to jump & he will likely keep improving.

I really like the blue Habs jerseys. I hope they don't ax them completely

  2. fun fact, Jesperi Kotkaniemi would be the Habs' 2nd leading scorer 😬

  3. 2 first round pick in a stack draft , almost 19 millions to sign players and at least 5 to 6 young prospect knocking at the NHL door…Montréal got all the tool to be way better next year and we have the GM group to do it…Hugues made no mistake at all so far as a GM, improved the team and developpement team and even cleaned the bad contract of Weber and Petry…The only interrogation mid and long term is in net. It's really exciting in Montréal right now long term ! First competent management group in almost 20 year !! ( Bergevin was super hit or miss with very little results to show for)

  4. Paul Byron will likely take a job indide the organisation. He spend LOTS of time with HuGo this year in the GM suite.Actually more than player's suite.

  5. Suzuki was great this year. Once Caulfield went down he was a lone wolf. No issues at all with his contract or his captaincy

  6. Nice stuff Shannon, though I think you overlooked just how positive the outlook on the Matheson trade is. He only managed 48 gp but had a career best in points and honestly just passed the eye test for a creative smooth skating offensive dman. Someone to look out for next season who could enter that 50-60 pt range for a blueliner and make a real difference.

  7. the leafs will face a very different team on game 1 of next season once everyone is back.
if Montembeault can become a very solid goalie, which seems to be his goal, the habs can become very dangerous very quick if they stop piling up at the infirmary

  8. Somewhere down the line Montreal will have to move some of the older players to let the younger players move up.

  9. Also, Paul Byron, knowing he is most likely never gonna play a game is now asking for a permanent job with the Montreal Canadiens association

  10. Super excited as a Habs fan, I have all the faith in the world in this organization and the management team. Future is bright indeed.

  11. Although he hasn't played a lot Mike Matheson played very well this year

  12. "As soon as MSL took over, Caufield's numbers got better"

Understatement of the century, guy went from a 0.17 ppg to a full 1.02 ppg during the last half with MSL

  13. Dach Suzuki Caufield
    Slavkovsky Dubois Anderson
    Hoffman Roy Gallagher
    Pinard blank Gurianov
    Extras pitlick, Blank, blank

    Guhle Matheson
    Harris Savard
    Hutson/kovacevic,Xhekaj

  14. I think Slafkovsky will be good but not the type of guy that will make habs better , like hes not the savior he will just be part of the good team I think Montreal can be in 1-2 years. Depending on what they do pick this year , The only thing that will hurt habs is their goaltending for years to come unless they fine a pearl somewhere

  15. Rumour has it, Montreal was in the Finals a couple of years ago. ????? What Happened??? Okay, they tank to acquire Slafkovsky, Bingo. Mission done. What? Their not getting better? Fire Mgmt and Head Coaches ?????

** I'm really guessing it wasn't Price at all, it was the list of defensive defensemen who got to the playoffs. Max scoring points for defense was 6 points each in 22 games. They weren't getting the scoring production but they were surrounding Price.

  16. Thank you Shannon, I’ve been waiting for this video. I had a long day at work, and this is the best video to come home too 🤘🏻

  17. Mike Matheson is BY FAR our best defenseman right now.. they'll have to move or trade a young guy. We just got Matheson from Pittsburgh

  18. Habs aren’t a relatively good team, but they’re a fun team. Kent Hughes & MSL certainly have laid a good foundation.

  19. Carey Price’s wife announced their moving to Kelowna this summer. He’s not playing another game.

  20. Mike Matheson would have been in the conversation for a Norris trophy if he played at the level he did over a full 82 game schedule.

  21. I'd love to them to make a jersey with color shade of maroon.
But I love just a dark maroon color like the old mtl maroons logo.

Habs are deep in defenceman(probably lose quite a few before next season) but if we are not picking in the top 4..
I want a dman.. Hehe.. yes.. the safe pick right handed dman.

  22. When Cdns overpay mediocre forwards and expect them to perform … overlooking prospect talent. The exact same boat as Arizona.

  23. Hope Drouin does better on another team where the media is not constantly in your face – somewhere south of the border, maybe on a team that likes reclaimation projects…

  24. Yes but the team shouldn't be better next year and we don't want it to be better next year.
Unfortunately they play in year and the canadian division year were years where Montreal should/would have missed the playoffs any other year and had better draft picks. We missed two years of drafts that their actual regular season play had earned them.

Montreal needs to trade away some more salary. Gallagher, Anderson, Hoffman, dvorak, edmundsen , Savard all need to go if they can get something for them. Oh mi goodness take a first round pick for Josh anderson.

Suzuki hopefully is the second line center eventually. Probably . Part of the problem when you have so few quality prospects in the hopper you end up overpaying the ones you have.

So lets get more quality prospects in the hopper.

Dach is fine. I don't know that he actually becomes a player that moves the needle for any team.

Price can't retire , he needs to make his money. He can't play.

    Pick up and develop players.

Need two more years at the bottom at least

  25. Montreal got to stop overpaying for middle/bottom 6 players and/or permanently injured players if they want to reconstruct this team.
