Rumors about trade talks for Hayes heating back up apparently. Reporting says Philly believes a $5m AAV is fair value for what he brings. Potential trade for late 1st round? Or maybe 2nd round pick? I don’t hate it at 5m AAV. Just depends on what we send to Philly

I’m not giving up a first or second round pick for hayes even at 5 mill

    1. I’m not familiar with The Fourth Period or The CBJ Center, are they reliable sources on stuff like this?

    2. Please god no

    This would be terrible.

Hayes at $5 mil for Roslovic and a 3rd I could see. But giving up a 1st rounder to take back a mediocre player is just ….guh

Of note, when he and Gaudreau were on the same line at Boston College, they averaged over 5 points per game.

If we have $14m wrapped up in Hayes, Gudbranson, and Elvis then Jarmo is tying a noose around this team’s neck.

  7. There’s no way they’re getting a 1st or 2nd. They’re retaining money just to make him tradeable, not to bring the value up to something significant. His 12 team NTC is likely making it a big headache for them to move him and Columbus has to be one of the only teams he’ll either waive for or isn’t on his list that is willing to take him.

I was listening to Skate Space a few days ago and they were talking seriously about what might happen to Elvis. They asked Rimer if a buy out was on the table and his response was (in summary) “he would have to be part of a deal where we take another teams bad contract, and maybe an asset”

I still think with Jarmo’s press conferences and comments that he isn’t convinced, and wonder if this could possibly be something related to his comment.

Probably not, I would think he gets one more season, but I thought it was an interesting thing he said in this context.

  9. Hayes is a fine player, but I really don’t think we’re that desperate right now. Especially not for an early round pick.

Of note, Hayes had more points on an equally as bad team as CBJ than anyone on the Jackets this season, except Johnny. This year, Hayes was 2nd in points for the Flyers and was an all star. I don’t get why people wouldn’t be excited about this move, if Philly retains part of his salary. Who else will you get for $5M a year that has these stats?

Giving up anything of value for Hayes would be a massive mistake
