I thought this casino being built was contingent on the state granting the license for it? I know the plan also calls for development without the casino.
What sucks is that its right next to my college. I know that so many people have complained in the surrounding area of jakes casino that random people will park on their business / home for the casino. I cant imagine how many people will try to park in the school now and we already have a terrible parking situation with just the students.

We really could’ve had something amazing for Nassau Coliseum, such a shame to see what’s about to happen to it. It’s even more gross once you realize that this casino is going to be right by Uniondale and Hempstead, where the casino is just going to prey on those communities.
As an outsider what does this mean?
I take the bus and pass the Coliseum every day. It’s so sad seeing it in the state it’s in today, and it pisses me off to no end that it will likely become a casino

Building a casino next door to a college is gross

Kills me that LI needs housing of any type desperately and thereās a big area right off of Hempstead Turnpike, with access to public transport, and itās gonna be a casino

I am gonna play devil’s advocate here.
I am a grown adult who understands money and budgets responsibly for gambling. (happy top share any references). This will be good for me to get away for the day and do adult things.
Y’all wanna talk about the kids but don’t realize the scam that is college and the college loan system. Hopefully this pushes kids to realize college isn’t the only path and they can forge their own future with online courses, youtube videos and site like project odin.
My vote is it remain empty as a reminder of what should have been. Only acceptable thing to me would be the full CW Lighthouse project.
