Watch as Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender appears to make a pair of amazing saves against the Florida Panthers, only for his glove save against Matthew Tkachuk to hold up as a goal after it is determined the puck crossed the goal line.

OLD BUT GOLD
OMG that would be save of the year contender
Not sure if itās gonna make steve dangleās Dang it or hat pick š¤
It's a goal but wow that would have been save of the year
The save that never wasā¦
Every goalie is gonna be re stitching their gloves removing that mesh now š at least 50% of it so an angle wonāt give that definitive puck over the line but brought to see if they have it smothered
So what youāre saying is that it wasnāt a āspectacularā save at all ?
Kadri
How is it a save if itās a goal? I donāt care. You canāt āsaveā a puck if itās a goal.
It's honestly still a no goal. Inconclusive and ruling on ice stands. Oh well
If his glove was tilted forwards 25Ā° they wouldn't have been able to call it conclusively.
Ugh thatās lame af. Regardless of what team your a fan of, that was a wild save. And probably was such a proud moment for Murray. Unreal effort and skill man !
Nice save by Murray although the goal counted!!!!šš„ š āļø
Roflmfao, this shows just how DaF leafblowers are, it is not a "spectacular save" if it is a goal. šššš
they could only see the puck in the net through the mesh in the glove which is not enough to be able to show the entire puck so how can they rule the entire puck was over the line? There could easily be a tiny portion of the puck directly above the line in the glove that we cannot see because we cannot see the edge of the puck. The rule is supposed to be that the entire puck must be clearly seen behind the line or the glove clearly be so far in the net there can be no doubt. Here there is doubt.
āāI find that surprisingā
Well video doesnāt lieā¦ lol
This could actually be on both hat-picks and dang-its lol.
Not sure that was the correct call. The referee has to see the entire puck cross the entire red line before they can say it was a good goal. The angles shown in the video suggests that the puck might have crossed the goal line but itās not conclusive. In my view, the correct call is no goal.
Itās too inconclusive, shouldnāt have been a goal, but it did light a fire for the Leafs.
Still the most overrated goalie in nhl history!
Thatās a dang it
Top view 1:32
Murray is getting a new glove without that mesh in the future no doubt, lol
So obviously thereās a lot of comments saying āit was a goal so itās not a saveā so just to try to explain it for context of the video title, it is relatively simple.
The call on the ice was a save, hence the āMurrayās spectacular saveā portion of the title, it was then reviewed and counted, which is the right call of course as the puck crossed the line, but that obviously wasnāt originally known.
Iām not sure why so many people are calling out the title when it still states what happened. Obviously the end result was a goal, nobody needs to save āwell then obviously it wasnāt a save thenā considering the context is pretty clear as to why itās titled that lol
You realize that he is moving "backwards" because he is so big, clumbsy, un-talented and wildly off-balance that he can't recover like a normal goaltender keeping his eyes and body facing the play as he moves to his right? You can see that can't you without my help??
2 of these in 1 season crazy
He knew it was in
Maple queefs will whine
#Dang-It.
Still a good glove "save".
Campbell had the same save in LA but later was called a goal but still a great save in the 80ās
wow, how did that stay out, HELLO……. it didn't
Ok I may be old and blind which I and both lol but did he not make two incredible saves on that play?? Anyways what a save it should have counted as a save just for the fact that it was one of the best saves ever. Wow
Next game Murray will have black netting on his glove
I just can't understand why he was backwards in the first place. Makes no sense.
NHL will make a rule requiring mesh to be see-through. I said it first; itās coming next year. As a panthers fan this save would have just been ridiculous, though. Glad the officials got the call right, pissed that we couldnāt play like the game mattered.
The importance of skate lace pockets
May not have been a save but it's still stop of the year !
… So it's not a save then, right?
Lesson to my fellow goaliesā¦ darker gear if possible – black mesh at minimum. If that catcher was black with black mesh you can bet it would have been deemed inconclusive.
Just sayin..
I wish the refs could just give the goaltenders the save of the year candidates even though it barely crosses the line.
Same thing happened when he was in Pittsburgh. Hasn't learned how to goaltend yet apparently.
