    Lol, jeez.

I feel like he could have said the exact same thing without it sounding like inside information from when he was with Tampa.

“If you look at Vasilevskiy’s advanced stats, you’ll see that he seems to be weaker with shots coming from the point. I think that is how Toronto has been able to get pucks past him, shots from the point.”

    Boom, no controversy.

I feel like nhl teams definitely had this on their scouting report already if tampa themselves knew about it

Sheldon Keefe basically confirmed the next day at practice that they had seen these analytics before the series.

If stuff like this came out more often/was advertised better it would be good for the sport. It would help distinguish what is good hockey sense, from actual strategy. Lots of other sports have done this, and it can make the viewing better, some of it is just because it’s harder to hide, like the shift in baseball. Show us some easy basic stuff like this that film study can reveal.

  5. This is why we get stupid nothing answers from everyone in the league. All of the players, agents, and coaches are neck deep in analytics. People act like they “just go out there and play” as if they aren’t acutely aware of where they and everyone else stand in advanced metrics. But the minute someone opens their mouth publicly and suggests teams actually study the game Twitter flips its shit.
