Braid: Notley comes out hard against arena deal, alleging hidden costs

I think the UCP has over estimated the desire of the people for a new event centre. Already Edmonton councillors are complaining about provincial money going to Calgary.

I’m ready fir the downvotes, but this is such a bad deal for the city.

    She actually didn’t.

Oddly enough an opinion piece has got an inflammatory title.

She just said there is confidential financial agreement that isn’t available until after the election.

    Thats it.

Nice headline. Talk about manufacturing consent. She said nothing of the sort.

Can I petition to ban posts about logistics, financing, and politics related to the arena? I’m just so tired of political stuff and I go to sports for an escape. I understand it’s related, but I think it’s far enough removed from Flames fandom.

    1) She didn’t “come out hard’, secret deal nonsense notwithstanding.

    2) People in Edmonton being mad about something in Calgary doesn’t mean that people in Calgary agree and don’t want it. That area of town has been on the city’s revitalization radar for years, and that’s why the council voted unanimously. It’ll proceed even if the province says no

Get this political bullshit out of this sub. This is for sports ffs.

She said she wouldn’t honour the deal and thats reason enough for me not to vote NDP. She hates hockey and will never strike a deal so Calgary will be without a new arena for even longer. I don’t care for politics but I do for hockey and thats where my vote will stay.
