Filip Gustavsson Demonstrating Proper Foot Placement in the RVH #goalietraining #goaliecoaches

In this video, Minnesota Wild Goalie Filip Gustavsson is demonstrating what proper foot placement in the RVH position actually looks like.

The RVH position (read more about it here: https://goaliecoaches.com/rvh-goalies-execute-use/) is an extremely effective position, when used correctly. One of the big problems that goalies find themselves in when using the RVH (reverse vertical horizontal) position is that they cannot quickly recover out of it, or transition from post to post.

This is what makes foot position on the post so important. It’s critical that goalies use the gap between the toe of their skate and the toe of their goalie pad to “lock” themselves on the post. This maximizes pad coverage in front of the net, reduces the chance of a puck sneaking into their net at this vulnerable position on the post, and increases their ability to push out of the RVH position.

This video is a textbook example of how to properly execute the RVH with proper foot positioning on the post.
