Rob,
I truly believe that the Covid years impacted the Gaudreau decision. Having just gone though a couple years of hoop jumping for getting their family members, and themselves back and forth across the border, AND having a baby on the way, I think Johnny and his wife just wanted to feel secure in being able to have family members, and especially a couple grammas, make regular visits without potential barriers, in the event of future health restrictions.
Next time you talk about the Arena deal, maybe revisit the Calgary NEXT which was to provide and arena, a stadium/fieldhouse, and revitalize another dead area of downtown. NEXT got shut down because $850M was WAY TOO MUCH.
The next arena should have an exterior fisade that can have visual displays projected for whatever event is in house that night, or advertising upcoming events
