This game shows that it takes more than collecting a roster full of star names to win in this league. The Devils have endured 10 years of misery, focusing almost exclusively on drafting and developing talent to build their roster. The Rangers, on the other hand, have had some success (including a deep run last year) but have mismanaged the development of a lot of their top drafted prospects.
This is about the Devils smothering style, and a lack of a plan of attack by the coaching staff. I think the players are trying, but they have a broken, ineffective game plan.

Kappo is a draft bust and Mercer at 19th pick out classes # 1 Lafranier he is close to being a bust too
Rangers are not hitting, checking, stepping up on the offensive blue line, would destroy devil's, but the captain is not being a captain and leading by example, open ice hits, are nil, I wonder if Jacob was warned if he hits like that he'll be fined and suspended, which is not hockey, no one talkes about what's lacking, separate player from puck creates offense, and sets up one timers no goalie can stop, rangers put up 60 hits would demoralize most teams.
