They shut out the New York Rangers by a score of 4-0 and so far this was their best win of the series. Akira Schmid earned his first career playoff shutout while Erik Haula led the way offensively. The Devils are now only one win away from advancing to the next round.

The Devils are not in the position they are in right now without Timo Meier. What he is providing is not showing up on the stat sheet but it is definitely playing into the NJ Devils success. I understand he needs to produce but I would also never judge a player off of 1 round of a playoff series.

Congrats to Dawson Mercer for notching his first playoff goal. I love his enthusiasm and dogged determination and I think he's got what it takes to become a proven playoff scorer.
Not only did the Taylor Hall trade net us Dawgson, it also brought us Kevin Wrecking Bahl, what a revelation he's been. He brings a different dynamic to our backline and he could be our long-term defensive defenseman.
If Erik Haula had to be snake-bitten for much of the season to do what he's doing right now, so be it. Besides his three points, I loved seeing his effort in helping preserve the shutout.
Bravo to Akira Schmid, AKA, Mount Blank for picking up his first playoff shutout. He's been an absolute rock back there for us. And a tip of the cap to Playoff Palat. It was a bit fluky but that puck going in off of Adam Fox's stick, chef's kiss.
Timo Meier's been doing everything we need except get on the scoreboard. If he keeps it up and we keep advancing, I think it's only a matter of time before he breaks through. He's already playing the part of agitator, just like his agent, Claude Lemieux.
Schmid isn’t even a rookie yet, honestly. He will still qualify as a rookie next year. He’s more like a redshirt rookie.
