The Winnipeg Jets were officially eliminated last game by the Vegas Golden Knights & after the game, Coach Rick Bowness absolutely ripped into his teams effort. We break down the series & how this turned into a disappointing ending for the Winnipeg Jets.

  1. Wheeler, Scheifele, and Dubois… don’t want to see you back! Take your corruption somewhere else.

  2. Blow it up. Move on from Scheiffle and Wheeler, please. Apparently season ticket holders aren't renewing. Who wants to watch mediocrity for 12 g's a season?

  3. There is no easy fix for this team…Small Market teams will always struggle…especially Canadian small market teams. Winnipeg will always be high on the list players (with trade clauses)have where they wont agree to be traded to. Frankly I think Calgary Edmonton and Ottawa also often appear on those lists. I always felt it was a gamble for Winnipeg to have another kick at an NHL franchise even though I'm happy for the Fans that they are back. The arena is small, they can only charge so much for tickets…much less than most other NHL cities. They will always be in a position of having to overpay to get or keep top, or even close to top talent…They don't really have top talent…they have some decent players but I wouldn't say anyone elite…and they have lost a lot players from the year they went to the Conference finals for all of the above reasons. I wouldn't want the GM job in Winnipeg. There is a really short window of success with most team's core players. Calgary in some ways lost that window…especially when they lost their two 100 point players in the off season…and are in bad position with Kadri's and Huberdeau's contracts. Edmonton is in danger of their window closing…McDavid and Drais will want to win…all players eventually want to win a cup. Toronto as massive of a market as it is, and as rich as that team is, also is in danger of having to rebuild…how many RFAs and UFA's do they have…how long can they Keep Mathews, Nylander, O'Reilly even Marner and Tavares. Small Market Canadian teams have to work so much harder to ice a competitive team and fan bases are only so loyal…the Jets lost a large number of Season Ticket holders in an already small arena. I hate to say it, but I think the Jets could easily lose a franchise again…which would be terribly sad for the city and the loyal fans. The Jets were a legitimate Cup Final Contender in 2018, that window has closed for the foreseeable future with the overall talent the team has or doesn't have anymore. You can probably say the same for Calgary with two IMO brutal contracts in Kadri and Hub…and losing their two best players in one off season sends a bad message to courting potential players to want to come there. Just rambling here but it's going to be a very interesting off season for the Jets and Flames after Bowness's comments…and Treliving leaving obviously because of Sutter.

  4. He was definitely sending a message to Jet's top brass that they need to wake up & realize some of the core players who have been with Jet's since the beginning of the new Jet's franchise need to go. They have been a protected class of players & things need to change. If not then Jet's will be looking for new head coach every couple of years & they will continue to be at best an average team.

  5. You can flush the whole team minus Lowry, Hellebuyck & Morrissey down the toilette along w all management!!!
I'd keep Bones & his staff if they want to stay but I doubt Bones would want his last year to be starting a complete rebuild!!!

  6. Every team plays "banged up". That isn't an excuse for mediocrity.

  7. Listen if you don't play to win why you playing. You play to win the game. Thanks coach Edward's

  8. The frustration was immediately felt by his tone of voice. He kept it professional all the way though.
    Much respect for the guy!!

  9. Bad draw for sure. To have to play the Vegas Golden Knight in the first round wasn't going to end with a deep run; The Jets knew what was in store.

  10. Chevy, gone. Wheeler, gone. Scheif, gone. Dubois, gone. Trade them for top D, because that is ultimately what the problem is with this team. Samberg is garbage but its not his fault he's out there in double OT and allowed to make that idiot pass. We have excellent forwards and prospects. To show how bad of a GM Chevy really is look no further than Reaves. He is available for almost nothing and was born here, and he doesn't trade for him. Imagine the grit he would have added

  11. Mark Scheifele is the biggest joke of a player in the league. All his pressers he comes across as whiny and self-entitled.

  12. definitely something wrong; laine (not a fan) hinted at it when he left; but like typical hockey world everyone is a great guy lol; and the team is way over rated in my opinion lol

  13. Man Bowness is completely on point. No push back has been this teams problem since they came back in 2011. Even in 2018 when they were absolute wagon, Vegas won the second game and again we rolled over. That team was so stacked it wasn’t even fair (Sheifele, Wheeler, Connor, Laine, Helly, Byfuglien, Morrissey, Trouba, Myers, Chiarot, Hayes) and we should’ve won the cup that year. But the problem was no push back which is on the team leaders. Maybe they just don’t know how to hold their teammates accountable idk. I’m pretty sure Wheeler is a very nice person but sometimes you need to be the opposite of nice to get your brothers to perform at the level they ought to and I think that was what was missing from that group and is still missing to this day. Morrissey will be captain next year and I think he’s going to lead the team completely differently.

  14. Get rid of half the players starting with Sheifele and Wheeler. Stanley, Pionk, Appleton, Demelo and many more

  15. Jets will never be anything special. Good players don't want to sign there and the good players they have want out as soon as possible.

  16. Imagine the gong show if they kept him for next season, especially after that speech. We can't act like it's an impossible situation and the coach has 0 blame.

  17. You gotta keep a coach like that. Coach wanted to win more than the players apparently. That’s sad

  18. "We need to have pride." Sorry, but that's impossible when playing in Winnipeg. This is literally the reason the Jets will never win a championship because they're in bloody Winnipeg. Who in their right mind wants to live there?

  19. There is no way that relationship can continue. Perhaps Bowness is either planning to leave, or expects the core of players to be shipped out. The team should have been better than a limping eighth place in the West.

  20. I think it is unfortunate because Vegas was just churning on all cylinders and looked so good this series so it's no surprise the Jets lost. But the problem is the lack of pride the Jets players were seemingly showing when they were loosing, and that's where Bowness get's it right. Sure you can lose to a better team, but show some fight when you're going down and the players didn't do that.

  21. Wheeler is done. Massive contract he doesn't deserve at age 48 or however old that washed up has been is. Schefflie can go too. Over-rated. His plus/minus rating is terrible because he refuses to backcheck. He gets some points because he logs 1st line minute and gets all the powerplay ice time as well. They also need to get bigger and tougher….when tiny Josh Morrisey is your top D Man and point getter theres issues all over that team. They had huge Myers, Stanley and Byfuglien on D..now they have AHLers.

  22. Funny every team Rick Bowness coaches goes downhill. Boston, Dallas, Winnipeg at what point do you say the coach can't motivate, control or engage the players. BAD COACH.

  23. I remember hearing over 2 years ago about there being toxic locker room dynamics revolving around wheeler…it looks like things haven’t changed.

  24. Used to like Winnipeg, they were my favorite 2nd team. Dont get a chance to see them much. Watched last night for the first time in a long time and their helmets have "toyoder" on them? Ah no thanks, not watching or supporting that team anymore. Not a toyoder fan at all. Why does the nhl have to have paying sponsors on the goddamn helmet? Stupid stupid stupid.

  25. our Canadian teams are nothing but farm teams and a platform to help showcase some young new talent starting their careers and some American superstars to help glorify American talent in Canada….40M Canadians vs +330M Americans; do the math, what is more profitable? Canadian teams winning their Cup or a (expansion) USA team winning the cup while helping the NHL grow the game in the USA sports market. Its a no brainer, 30 yrs no Canadian team can win their own cup, in their own sports dominated by their own peoples??? sure we can hope and beleive, honestly we would do more good by stopping to watch and stopping to suppport the NHL…..that way when the ratings revenue and numbers all plunge, they'll have no choice but to bring successful competition back here where it originates from

  26. They retool and trade wheeler, Scheifele, and pld then build on Connor and Morrissey

  27. What’s there to say? Hellebuyck just said he wants out so you might as well blow the whole team and start fresh. There’s only a couple of players I’d keep if any. The fans of Winnipeg deserve that.

  28. Guarantee Steve Yzerman has Kevin Cheveldayoff on Speed Dial this off season, trying to get one of those elite goal scorers that did jack shit this year.

  29. sad to see end this way for this series. thought Jets played really well in Game one and should have won double OT. Jets had Vegas' number and would have won this series especially if healthy! Was really hoping they were going to make some noise in these playoffs, they looked so strong throughout the year, well first half anyways!

  30. Rick was absolutely right to say what he said. The jets were absolute trash this series. they are always trash. They need new management, chevy needs to go. Wheeler needs to go, I live in manitoba so of course i was cheering for them but yet another embarrassing playoff exit for them. Maybe they need to be relocated again. They need something. Since big buff bailed on wpg, they have sucked the big one.
