No one expected the Leafs to do this…

The Toronto Maple Leafs would comeback from a 4-1 deficit against the Tampa Bay Lightning & win it overtime from an Alex Kerfoot tip in. We break down the game, how the Leafs came back, and what this means mentally for the Toronto Maple Leafs going forward.

  1. "The little team that could. "Leafs are playing guerilla warfare hockey and it's working. Go Leafs Go! 📯🪖

  2. THIS. This is what playoff hockey is all about! Love this sport! Love the fans! (Except Winnipeg)

  3. I think the lightning have stopped caring they don’t have any energy and passion anymore.

I said before this series whoever loses that team will undergo a massive overhaul of management. Looks like Jon Cooper and JBB might be done.

  4. I think based on the way they are playing, and I haven’t seen this type of tenacity from this team in years, I truly believe they will advance. If they don’t at this point , many people will throw them in the trash BIG TIME!!!

  5. well a reverse boston leafs series gm 7 winner was witnessed last night… have they finally added back the E to the team name??!!

  6. coming out fast doesn't often work in hockey. this game is an example of how things can change fast in hockey at the end of games, especially for a team that started well. gotta be solid throughout and burst at the right times in hockey. not a leafs guy but i hope they send the lightning home.

  7. take out game 2 because that was wack, but the 3 other games, out of the 12 goals scored by the Leafs, I think they scored 10 on the blocker side.

I believe this is Vasilevskiy's weakness

  8. Holy Vasa has a weak blocker arm haha. Good on the Leafs for exposing that.

  9. I think whoever wins game 5 will win the series. Toronto will either move on in incredible fashion beating Tampa in 5 games or Tampa will make the game 7 comeback, sending the leafs into complete retool or even rebuild mode. Dubas gone, Keefe gone, Matthews and Nylander will prob want out, Rielly might be shunned depending on his performance, and somehow people will blame Samsonov even though he literally won game 3 and 4 for them.

  10. Being a lifelong leafs fan I can't even get excited after these last few games because they can still collapse at any time lol.

  11. Somehow, MacBeth's lines come into mind:

"We have scotch’d the snake, not kill’d it:

She’ll close and be herself, whilst our poor malice

Remains in danger of her former tooth."

  12. true story,,,,,,, my daughter went and grabbed her toronto maple leafs blanket when it was 4-1 and she said it was for good luck and than that happened crazy eh

  13. As a Leafs fan my brain doesn't even understand how to compute the Leafs comeback last night. I don't think I've ever watched a game where they came back from a 3 goal deficit in the third period. Imagine other fans feel the same. I've been waiting to buy a visiting (white) Leafs jersey for a while and this has driven me to try and figure out who's name to put on there 🙂 these are all happy problems for me. hope everyone else has the 'warm fuzzies' this gave me.

  14. Yeah man. The stupid microscope on the Leafs since…….. 1917?! Is insane. Everyone shut up and let it happen.

  15. Stop saying “killer instinct” like the fucking nerd analysts and journalists……

  16. tampa plays so hard the first 2 periods trying to rack up goals then are half spent by the 3rd period and leaf snipers take over.

  17. i think the secret is play shit for first 50 mins, then go balls to the wallz in the end… thats how we lost to others all these past yr round ones, and now we adopting that strategy to go past round 1…

  18. As a Tampa fan, this loss was devastating. I cant see us winning the series even though we appeared to mostly outplay the leafs in the last two games. We still lost both. Can we win 3 in a row? I dont think so. We've lost too many key players over the years. On the current roster, too many key players are injured. Bunting's illegal check to Cernak has apparently worked in Toronto's favor in the long run. Cernak on the ice is far more valuable for Tampa than Bunting is for Toronto. Let's not forget, the series has featured Hedman and Cernak out at the same time (game 2 anybody?). Bunting will return for Toronto in game 5 but, Cernak is still out injured from Bunting's check. Eyssimont, who was hyped to help fill the hole left by Yanni Gourde, is still out from injury too. Tampa's top players getting on the ice arent exactly at the pinnacle of health either… If Marner, Matthew, O'Reilly, Nylander ect. do a fraction of what they are capable of, Toronto wins this series.

  19. Statistically eventually they have to. Now it's about what Gretzky and Messier talked about. Go out a be willing to freaking die for it.

  20. O'Reilly, Acciari, Schenn, McCabe. That's the difference. Too much pressure on the Leafs core 4 the last couple of years. Now, they have some solid players to back them up, and it shows.

  21. If they can end this series and move on, this team's confidence level will be through the roof and will probably go deep in the playoffs. Stanley Cup not sure but a deep playoff run that Leafs fans can be proud of, definitely possible.
