  1. Thanks to all three of you for another great podcast, love it.

Art, I'm really impressed how cool you act throughout the podcast even though there are tons of great questions to ask, you never freak out once. Well done Art and keep it up since you know a lot of hockey and that's what I want to hear as a listener.

That the team is at an important crossroads is not so difficult to see in our two meetings with Ottawa. I'm glad we didn't win them both, but more that reality is more natural here, we're not good enough yet and won't be yet as there are many things to work on (boring as fans, sure).

As for the question of selling or buying, the answer given by Stevie, that he never intended to buy, drove me a little crazy. He certainly clarifies the answer in more depth and then I calm down somewhat, not much but somewhat.

The reality is perhaps as simple that there are no assets left for reasons that lie in the last 20 years of success that means making the playoffs in those decades. Successes cost more and become very expensive history if done carelessly from our GM/Owner back then.

I hope we will see a more active GM as a buyer during the next three years who really goes all out to get that Elite star player. DRW has a very good base (core) in the team to build on and we have a pool of talent today and tomorrow. However, I don't really see how we will get that player via the draft and offseason.

I liked Stevie's conclusion the most that he is willing to listen to other GMs and could very well imagine using draft picks more actively to get players with the extra level we lack on the team today. I also hope that he personally leads that contact with other GMs, because we have the capital and the assets today.

Present, Also looking forward to seeing more of our talent given opportunities in RW now. Extremely happy to hear that Stevie insists that there are several players to choose from and not just Edvinsson. As a Swedish fan, thats what I want to hear.

When it comes to Kasper, he will come over and he will come under the best possible condition and do everything he can to make it difficult for our GM to say no to him. As I see it, Only a longterm injury can prevent Kasper from taking that opportunity soon.

Great time to be a DRW fan for sure and I think the team needs ~ 3 more years to get all the pieces together to become a stable playoff team. Well it´s up to our GM/Owner to make that happend, and I stand by the Yzerplan, not the owners so much.

  2. "If your getting the best deal early, don't mess around and get it done" Steve Yzerman

  3. Yzerman signs Auston Matthews in '24 for 15 million a year, 15×7 105 million dollar contract.

  4. God. I'm 34, growing up, I got spoiled with the Wings. As an adult now, it blows my mind to see Yzerman as the Captain of the ship. We are soo lucky, this is truly an amazing time frame of seeing the Detroit Redwings

  5. I think the moves were all great, aside from the retainage with the Vrana trade for next year.

  6. I listened to Ken Holland's availability, and then I listened to Yzerman's. Detroit's current GM is impressive. Well done.
    – an Oilers fan.

  7. A week ago these media shills were pimping the playoffs and forgot about the rebuild. Then a reality check against Ottawa and BOOM…back to rebuild mode. Flip flop, flip flop. Make up your minds.

  8. Alot of things put us in the selling position but I'm not mad about waiting until next year and not making a wildcard just to get swept by Boston 1st rd. This isn't Toronto. Beruzzi being Injured long term and being Ufa, Vrana falling through with ltir, and the team not being as high in the wildcard standings I think made Yzerman pull the trigger and you can't hesitate in that position as a GM, especially with making moves and getting good return value in your trades. Upsetting? A little, but necessary.

  9. Steve traded those players out at the peak of their value. All are really in their peak years. Why hold onto them to be a bubble playoff team? Best to take one step back so you’re better positioned moving forward. The strength of the rebuild will be more solid.

  10. Stevie Y is overrated. Last year adds players at bad contracts and then sells off his good players this year. Got fleeced by Canucks and sold their best defenseman. Good luck with the 10 year plan that started in 2019 that is being extended another 5 years. I think he should stop reading articles about how great a manager he is.

  11. Asset management 😂- its absolutely the correct path at this stage. Money in the bank and a good stack of picks to play with for this stacked draft. Kasper / Big Ed / AJ / Elmer Thud / possibly pushing for a place 2023-24 Mazur Lombardi Cossa looking good. Feels good to me. Interested in Doucet.

  12. I remember the mid 70s – mid 80s when they won less than 20 games a few times. After they turned it around it still was more than a decade until they won a cup. We’re at where we’re at and it’s just going to take time. Top UFAs aren’t really going to be interested until we get a superstar, and the lottery really boned us there. Hopefully these picks are enough for Stevie to work with. I rather push for a great team later then a good team next year.

  13. This was objectively the right move. There’s no debating this, lol. You got picks for players you were probably gonna lose for free, and the team wasn’t going anywhere. Trust the Yzerplan

  14. Being a Canucks fan what do you think of Hronek as I had no idea who he was until the trade. What are his pro and cons. I didn't like that hit he took by Reeves back in December and wonder if Stevie Y knows something we don't. That hit looked like a very bad concussion and wonder if down the road it may rear its ugly head again. I hope not as the Canucks are desperate for an excellent right shot D man. Good luck Red Wings fans! This year's draft will be golden for you!

  15. Bottom line. Long term rebuild. Still looking for moritz type players. Until he has at least 2 top lines. Im feelin rebuild vibez. Ida pd Bert whatever he was asking. But. Ima homey i guezz. Ill say again. Draft some big tuff canadiens. Please. Peace.

  16. Bummed on Bertuzzi. Sorta like trading Draper in his prime. Need grinders and heros. Starting to question the Y plan too. How long do we give it?

  17. Forget free agency. The wings need youth. And don't concentrate on working them into the system. The system needs to evolve. Put these young players into the fire immediately.

  18. I think the wings gave Boston a lemon. Tyler can't skate, shoot, pass or score. Sorry, but waiting for the puck to be fed to you is not good.

  19. The teams that can really skate win championships. You stay ahead of the play. You beat opponents to the puck. You make the transition through the neutral zone quickly. You are able to harass the opponent, taking them off of their game. Every aspect of the game is easier with really good skaters.
