’23 Player Grades: Moritz Seider, Alex Nedeljkovic & Adam Erne | Results of Fan Grading Polls So Far

Moritz Seider had a rough start of the season, but once he switched to a pairing with Jake Walman, he became the defensman from last year, if not better. Alex Nedeljkovic’s season was dissapointing, mired with several AHL stints and poor numbers. Adam Erne gave us exactly what we expected — Adam Erne. #lgrw

  1. The only similarity between Connor and Larkin is that they both are wearing skates

  2. Awesome compilation of players !!👌🏼
Thank you for not pushing my guy under the bus 😂
You guys summed it up well.
I watched Seiders season highlights 21/22 too many times & he couldn't even do anything for some points last year. Take his first game of last season alone. 2 assists for absolutely nothing. He had a few others of those, so I haven't been disappointed in his assists this year, but I would have liked a few more goals.
Defensively though it was a good step forward & he will wear the A 100% next season. A- season , expectations I am with you B(+)
NED was solid in his games & hopefully will start behind Husso next year – C- / D+.
Erne can show some players how to get better physically but that's it….

  3. Very early to speculate but Winnipeg was just eliminated easily and the team is a hot mess. Check out Rick Bowness' post one minute post series presser. Detroit badly needs a # 1 goaltender. Michigan born Hellybuck would be great.

  4. If you want feedback from people about our own grades, you guys could always draft a Google Form. It'd allow you to have more than three options and ask for rationale. Just a thought.

  5. Ok, I feel like You need a really good memory to look back on a player's entire season and judge it fairly. I want to remind people of Seider's completely unforced errors early on, when he was really overthinking things. I also want to praise him for the sheer effort he was still putting out in the final weeks of the season, he was one of our hardest working players. Too much talk about Chiarot and Walman. A lot of Seider's season was his doing, good and bad.

The Ned thing is so overblown. Most NHL goalies are capable. The ones with the best stats pretty much always have a pretty damn good team in front of them. Our goalies didn't have that this year, and I know that Ned let in some soft goals earlier. He also didn't have much help in several of those games. I specifically remember a 5-1 lost to the Panthers in December, when Lalonde made sure to say that Ned wasn't the problem in that game. After that he didn't get a start for a long time, and then the team decided to send him to the AHL. He didn't get much of an opportunity, and then when they finally brought him back and he looked good, Lalonde seemed to want to play him as much as possible. There's no reason to think Ned can't be serviceable if the team in front of him is consistent. Who is on the market this year that would be an obvious upgrade?

And why shouldn't Erne be one of the more physical players? He doesn't have many other skills. But it's not like he was the only guy who could hit. Seider, Chiarot, Walman, Rasmussen, Fabbri, Perron, Veleno, and Larkin play hard.

I think we get narratives stuck in our head really easily, but hockey is way more complicated than those narratives usually make it seem.

  6. "The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them." —Denis Waitley

  7. Stick tap for Erne. I didnt have ANY expectations and i feel like he was put in a suuuuuper unfair position to have to be the team sheriff, but he definitely tried. When he came back from Grand Rapids he seemed to really really play his ass off and prove that he wanted to rock the winged wheel. Respect to the dog
