247: Jimmy Butler vs. The Knicks & Conference Semis Picks

On this edition of Road Trippin’, the crew looks ahead to the next round, where we have some incredible matchups! The guys are looking forward to the rock fight between the Knicks & Heat, where points will be at a premium in the face of some old school defense. Both Channing & Richard are in agreement when it comes to picking the showdown between Jokic’s Nuggets and KD’s Suns.

And how did we end up here? How historic were Jimmy Butler’s heroics in taking down the #1 seed Bucks? Does Giannis deserve any of the blame for Milwaukee’s early exit? The Sixers have had a long time to rest up…but is that a good thing? Will Joel Embiid be forced to rush back too soon against the Celtics/Hawks?

  1. Channing is a real problem for this pod. He goes from uninterested and unengaged to completely ott in a heartbeat. Might be time to bench him

  2. To think holiday is taller then Josh hart, see talking heads, do some research before you make videos, some moron might think you an “expert “ and know what you talking about!🤦🏽‍♂️

  3. Don't agree with RJ at all. Giannis missing free throws is part of why it a failure, not part of why it isn't. its literally a "free" shot at the basket and ur a max deal player and a Finals MVP. You cannot miss 13 times in an elimination game. Budenholzer's decision making was also a massive failure. Game 5 was tied with half a second left on the clock and you had a timeout and could've advanced the ball to get a shot off. It's just coaching malpractice to not call that timeout.

  4. The heat have made the finals and the ECF twice since 2020 and they will again now. They are a playoff team everyone is worried about regular season. Look what he did vs the Celtics last year against a BIGGER team and the best team AND lost in 7 I believe they’d best Philly the Celtics maybe not but on the west I think we can beat anyone besides the suns. The knicks are not as good as the best don’t let the regular season fool u Jimmy been putting up 40 in the playoffs since 2020 and and shot 62% from the field don’t make me laugh Josh hart ain’t stopping him. And Brunson what he scores 25? I’m not afraid of Brunson at all he is basically a regular season Jimmy butler. Playoff Jimmy is basically at KD or Lebron level even tatum level when it comes to playoffs and finals stats. He only gets better in big games. And we have more experience. Heat in 5-6 mark my words. The knicks are nobodies

  5. First time here. Having to watch Richard eat the ENTIRE show was beyond arrogant. He was too busy eating to talk. I thought this was going to be a good podcast. I was wrong.

  6. Sorry the 2 minute report said Pat was holding Jimmy's left shoulder/arm guys.. I saw the replay angle zoomed. He was holding no call, so when Jimmy pushed off it was another no call in a bang bang play….

  7. One thing I want to point out, because I see it quite often and a lot of people seem to get it wrong. "GENTLEMAN'S SWEEP" is not just a series that ends in 5. It's when team A has a 3-0 lead, let the team B win game 4 because they are gentlemen and don't want to humiliate them, and then finish them in game 5. On a similar note, a BACKDOOR SWEEP is when team A loses game 1, and then proceeds to win 4 in a row.

  8. 5 2nd round picks for Crowder. Still a lot but very different than 5 1sts.

Thibs still has to prove he can adjust properly, but if this season and playoffs was any indication he's better, team D continues to play well (Grimes hasn't played much, best perimeter defender). MIL didn't play like favorites, Knicks are playing much better than that and still haven't hit their full stride (Quickley had a rough series much like Grimes when he played, and far from normal Julius).

MIA is no joke, has some good players and shooters, a couple historical Knick killers in Love & Lowry too, but it seems like an uphill battle even IF Jimmy scores 40 / game again esp w/ Herro & Oladipo out.

  9. Exciting times. No love lost between these 2 teams. Anyone here old enough to remember the ANIMOSITY between Zo's Heat vs Ewing's Knicks? That was the most intense (AND MOST PHYSICAL) rivalry back in the day. Zo and Grandmama LJ hated each other. PJ Brown wanted to manhandle every Knick. Etc etc.

  10. Richard – As a long time fan, your analysis on Miami couldn’t have been anymore wrong.

  11. It does not matter at all whether New York knicks wins or Maimi Heat wins the series, both those teams are just going to lose to either the Celtics or 76ers. I do not see The New York Knicks going to the NBA finals in the 2023 Playoffs.

It will be a wasted effort because you are fighting to just lose to either the 76ers or Celtics.

  12. WTF can Richard Jefferson eat sometime in the other 23 hours and 30 minutes of the day?!?!?!? Jesus man.

  13. If I wanted to watch Jefferson chew for 28 minutes, I would have sent him a request on fuckin' twitter….goddamn dude.

  14. Channing Frye is stupid for thinking Jimmy cannot be the best or one of the best people players in the playoffs.

  15. I did actually and I won over 85,000 for the series and I was winning about $34,336.32 a night so actually I did I am probably one of the few people out there that is was behind his heating all year
