Avalanche Season Ends With a 2-1 Loss to the Seattle Kraken in Game 7. Where Do We Go From Here?

The Stanley Cup will have a new home this year after the Colorado Avalanche season come to an end following a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken in Game 7 of their first round series Sunday night.

This clearly was a challenging and difficult season for the Avalanche. Despite an endless list of injuries, they somehow captured the Central Division title and going into the playoffs had hopes of making another deep run.

That proved not to be the case as the Kraken held their ground against the defending champs. Especially Philipp Grubauer who would bend but not break in the deciding game.

An offsides review also doomed the Avs when a game-tying goal was called back after review.

It will be an interesting off-season for the Avs. And we will no doubt cover that in the days and weeks ahead. But for right now, we bid farewell to the 2022-2023 season and are already looking forward to next year.

  1. Just wanted to say Love you my brothers (don't think I have ever said that on Youtube.) thanks for all the great perspectives and videos this year. Keep growing the channel. I think everyone needs a rest and a rested AVS team with the core pieces we have coming back is going to be a beast of a hungry Yeti (Cue Scott Pilgrim Amp Vs. Amp battle). See you in 5 months …Shaggy Stay off the Energy Drinks 🙂 Ha, peace brothers.

  2. I understand the spirit of offsides but I hate the enforcement of it, Lehkonen being offside had no impact on that goal. So much frustration during this cursed season and they fought through it all until this last game where it couldn't happen, kinda glad the emotional burden of this stuff is done for the summer at least. Thanks for the Bruins choking game 7 so that way we aren't the only thing the media is laughing at.

  3. Thank you boys for a season's worth of fair-minded coverage. Excellent analysis, and often damned funny too.

  4. This loss didn't hurt as much. Too many injuries this season. Hopefully, the management can look for a second line C. See you guys next season. Go avs go!!

  5. Chris and Kyle, it’s been great listening to you both this season. Such an awkward year for us, but I really appreciated how you guys seemed to make sense of it all.

I’m still damn proud of this team. It’s amazing that the Avs managed to win the central with the injuries we sustained. We battled through an entire year without our captain, and somehow clawed our way atop the division after some wondered if we’d even snag a wild card spot. The good news is that no one can ever take away what this team accomplished last year, and our superstars are still young and full of talent. Go Avs!

  6. Just not good enough. How can you think, you can win a playoff series with just one forward line, all the other lines are too bad to play even 10 minutes! This will be a very, very, very long summer. Lines 2-4 should all get kicked out. No Burky, no Naz, no playoff series win. 🤮

  7. Ugh. Can't say the lads haven't earned the rest though. Good game, glad the went out swingin. Hate to be this guy but really wish the nuky situation didn't go down the way it did, hope all is well on that front. But thank you both for this Rollercoaster of season! Yall helped me get through it, that's for sure! Haha

  8. Im a Kraken fan and watched the crossover episode before the series started. Just gotta say your a great host Chris, keep up the great work and gg’s

  9. I've been watching stanley cup playoffs since 1979 and hockey fanatics all know the sacred legacy of this silver cup that men go to die for every year. Every hockey player lives for this and will almost die for it. Its known for its warriors that lay it all on the line. That is why Nichushkin, no matter what the details are, completely did something contrary to this cup's meaning – its almost sacrilege. Even if its a very terrible set of details, hockey players fight, they fight to get back on that ice. He left, and not a word was said, he did not fight, the organization did not fight. And that to me, is just so anti-stanley cup. i don't ever want to see it again in my lifetime.

  10. Listened to you guys all series, appreciated the opposition take on this whole thing. Thanks for a great series from the emerald city.

  11. It's all good, we overachieved considering absolutely nothing went right for us this year.

We forget how high our expectations are for this team. Despite everything, we fought until the end and still have a cup within the last 12 months with this group.

Great seasons by Nate, Mikko and AG.

Too many injuries, not enough gas, a few changes to be made, it is good they can now sit back and take some proper time off, which they didn't really get last year.

Thanks to both of you for good commentary this season, I've enjoyed the dialogue.

    Go Avs!

  12. I'm a Bruins fan but I also root for the Avs so this was one of the worst days I can ever remember as a hockey fan.

  13. Crazy close series that could have gone either way & both teams deserve much respect. As a Kraken fan I humbly invite you all to be a Kraken fan if only to their seasons end. I have learned as a Seahawk fan it always stings a little less if the team that knocks you out does well in the playoffs & verifies you were beat by a solid squad.

  14. This is going to sound terrible but i was almost relieved at the end, this nightmare of a season is finally over. There just wasnt any good breaks all year and even if they survived this game it was only going to get worse. Now they have a full off-season to rest and hopefully Sakic and McFarland can make some moves to add some scoring punch to the middle 6

  15. "Black Flag" – King's X. More like Black Monday. I think I will just let this settle in before I comment on anything. Love you guys and love your show. SDMF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. In the playoffs ANYTHING can happen. There are always upsets, especially in the first round.

  17. A huge thank you for following along with us during this crazy season. But it doesn't stop for us! We still have a lot to cover during the off-season including player grades, the draft and free agency. So the shows will go on and we hope you continue to follow along with us! Thank you again!
