  1. Kings fan here Byfields up side is worth the gamble you never know what your getting but what if we have the most dominant player for years to come? GKG

  2. To be fair Byfield was talked about as going #1 last year and he is a year older now , he should be standing out vs his peers

  3. Byfield is absolute garbage. The worst player in the tournament. He is the worst player that ever played for canada. He can't skate, he can't pass, he can't shoot, he he can't do anything right. Probably the worst player I ever seen.

  4. I think SO many people are overreacting about Byfield.
Hes going to have to develop into a star player.
Stuetzle is better right now. But Byfield is going to be just fine.

  5. Don’t judge him too quick. He’s young, let him develop. He might go point per game after a few games

  6. This is a small sample size, but I do think people are on to something. I do believe this guy is overrated. Sure he has the potential to be a great player, but he also has the potential to be a bust as well. He will likely be somewhere in the middle.

  7. I truly believe in a few years looking back, the Kings management will want to get ill at the thought they could have drafted Tim Stutzle. Just like in 2014 with the 2 teams that passed on Draisaitl, who was drafted 3rd overall.

  8. He’s getting overshadowed by his lower drafted teammates that’s why people are worried. I personally think he got drafter as high as he went because of his size. But hey he’s still young.

  9. The only thing that annoys me about Byfield is that he was talked as maybe going first instead of Lafrenière. As a Québécois, this was unacceptable. Seeing him being bad right now is kinda satisfying, but I really hope it won't affect him and he'll bounce back.

Also, the Byfield / Caufield comparison doesn't work. Caufield has been driving the offence, being noticeable on almost every shifts. Byfield is ranging from useless to straight up bad. But I'm sure Byfield will bounce back, if not during the tournament, sometimes else.

  10. Ive never been impressed by byfield before the draft i thought he was super overrated he will be a low end second liner at best in the nhl

  11. I'm really not too worried. I expected him to take a little time, and I think his lack of production is heavily impacted by his deployment. Every canadian forward was a 1st round pick but because byfield went 2 most recently people expected the world from him, but he's still a year behind the majority of their forwards. It's way to early to be saying we should have picked stutzle considering the catch with Byfield has always been you have to wait a year or 2 for him to be NHL ready. That does not make him a bad pick though.

  12. Didn't we go through this with Turcotte last year? Now he is the best 2 way player on that US squad. His metrics are off the charts. Development is not linear. QB needs more seasoning so just let him Develop.

  13. Byfield is the youngest guy on the team being used in a 3rd line role I'm not worried as far as Parik goes he was good in Spokane last season even scored a goal and really impressed me last year at the WJC the #'s weren't great but almost the entire Czech team was injured all their top players even he got hurt but he looked good

  14. I get that you cant compare Byfield to players on weaker teams but it`s not just Stutzle that is outperforming him. it`s also Lundell and Raymond both players are on good teams. but then it gets even worse when you see that he is being outplayed by Mercer and Perfetti. They are on the same team and at the moment it`s beyond any doubt that both are better than Byfield. Maybe in a couple years Byfield will be the best player in the draft but right now he isn`t top 10. Even during the draft I remember looking at him and thinking if you put his skill set in a 5ft11 frame he would be a 8-15th pick and so far I have seen nothing to question that.

  15. What are people on about, no one is hating on Byfield, literally no one cares cause he’s playing fine, he’s using his big body and long stick in the D-zone and bumping people off the puck, he’s playing good on a stacked team where he’s not getting much ice time

  16. Not worried. He'll do well in a couple years. He needs a little time but I think he was a better option than Stutzle.

  17. too young to write off… but its also definitely possible he is a bust. Sometimes big dudes have trouble when they start playing against men. Size still matters but if you rely on being way bigger than everyone it can turn bad

  18. Byfield was slightly overhyped solely based on his skin color. Don’t get me wrong, he’s has NHL caliber potential, and it is worth a top 15 pick. But arguably I wouldn’t have put him at second. His WJC performance is further proving there were better players overlooked.

  19. He is not being used as he should be. He will be a great player in LA eventually but needs to develop and play with force. That said, Stuetzle should have gone #2. Holly freaking hands, motor, speed batman

  20. If you look closer at Tim Stutzle and how invisible Byfield is when the competition picks up I'd be concerned. Without a Dach injury Byfield would have been a 4th liner. Cole Perfetti is slotted ahead of Byfield and taken in the same draft. The coaches see Byfield lacking something, I see it too.
Byfield has legit problems when his size advantage is taken away and not being 6'4" with a bunch of kids in the OHL. He's soft for a big man.

Stutzle is NHL ready now (yes older but not that much) Byfield is 2 years away from being 2 years away.

  21. The revenant i watched Byfiield live on the wolfs once when i was at a hockey tpurnament in sudbury

  22. Was given the 2nd line center spot beginning of camp. Scrimmage games he looked bad they dropped him down to 4th line (now on 3rd because of Dach). He stated himself the coaches wanted him to contribute more offensively this year. They didn't see that in camp. Got 1 point in a game where there were 16 goals scored… The list goes on. Please don't use the same "he's youngest" excuse as last year.

    He needs to step up.

  23. Ngl I’m not really worried about Byfield, like he’s still the youngest player on the team for the 2nd year in a row and he’s getting played in a bottom 6 role again. But who I’m getting concerned about is Turcotte, the dude just can’t get going and he’s playing with Kaliyev and Zegras on his line…

  24. This video aged VERY well lol.. Byfield with a monster 6 point night and now sits at 7 points in 3 games and he's done that with playing in a depth role. GKG

  25. He needs to use a mans stick.. hes hunched over its redic he gives up so much height. Wish kings didnt draft him..

  26. I said it atr draft day: Big mistake by the Kings taking Byfield over Stützle. LA will regret it big time.
