If I were the Canes. I would approach the Sabre's on acquiring sniper Victor Oloffson. Might just be what they need, and less expensive than Kane.
Getting Stillman is a low risk move for the sabres and they got some toughness for their soft roster. He might even turn out being a gem under right management.
Maybe the Hurricanes are waiting for the NYR-Kane trade to fall through. Which it very well could.
Lightning gave up way too much for Jeannot but he’s a cheap RFA, Bertuzzi is a more expensive UFA that’s struggled through injuries this year. If Detroit gets a similar return, Yzerman is a wizard!
Love the recap !!! Always Happy !!!! Love Swayman !l
Toronto is still not a contender as their defense and goaltending is not going to get them past the 1st round. Carolina totally overpaid for KK as he has only 58 Games Played Goals11 assists14 Points 25..not worth it for the dollars spent
It might be of interest to others to include in your Poile video that he was the one that started Dad's trips in the NHL.
Love my sabres forever but good lord have we had some of the worst GMs of all time
Nashville will be very interesting going forward. For all Poile did over the years he really at the end of the day put them in that skwishy middlemwhich in the end helped no one. They had some good years but not alot of playoff success. Trotz approach will be a story to follow.
Buffalo is banking on Stillman returning to his Florida form, and Granato runs a similar style of system as Florida had. And while it's tough to see Josh Bloom go, Buffalo has such a log-jam in the forward pipeline and they lack defensive depth, so I'm okay with the move.
This kid from the Canucks don't know much about him actually know nothing of him but the Sabres need physicality maybe that's what Kevin is thinking
As a Sabres fan I’m not sure if I’m excited about the trade, but they’ve had some AHL quality players playing with the Sabres. Maybe this will help Buffalo actually play some defense??🤷♂️
David Poile's first GM job was in Washington. He was hired in 1982 when it seemed that The Caps would move. Poile made The Rod Langway trade and Poile made moves that saved the franchise. The Capitals became a consistent winner though we all know about their record in the playoffs.
I know that Poile may be remembered because he helped build Nashville from the start. But please also show Poile did with The Caps.
As an Islanders fan I simply cannot believe trotz is the least bit interested in "young guys" since he went out of his way to punish young players we have by limiting their ice time when they made rookie mistakes. He ALWAYS would play established veterans over younger guys, even if the younger players had more potential to help.
Can't believe Canucks actually got an asset for Stillman. Unbelievable move by GMPA
Not a fan of Hynes coaching with Preds. Boring!!! But he’s friends with GM, I think….interested to see what Trotz as new GM brings..
I'm still trying to figure out what the hell were my Sabres thinking. Only thing I can figure out is that it's a nepotism thing with GM KA and Stillman dad being friends and ex teammates at Carolina…but WTF? We are paying 1.3 million for the Canucks' worst player???
re: Stamkos' 2 minutes for first TBL Stanley Cup – TBL's first Stanley Cup trophy was in 2004 – Stamkos played for their 2nd and 3rd Cups 🥰😇😉
Wallman 3×3.4mill
As Landeskog goes ,so do the Avs…even if they get into the playoff picture, they won't nearly be the same team without him, yeah, he's that important to their success
Carolina is being smart, that's why they don't overpay for rentals. They got all their picks and more, why even bother to add rentals when everyone else did it already? they are still the best team in the NHL not named Boston and they have playoffs experience. i don't see them move.
Colorado is following Tampa's cup/cap strategy by keeping Landy on LTIR
Maybe Bloom never would see the ice with the forward depth in Buffalo but idk what they're doing with that one
I notice that 4 team logo magnets are missing from the board completely, the Bruins, Blackhawks, Stars and Oilers.
End of an era in Nashville.
Not a fan of either team but burtuzi to Vegas is my prediction
My only hope for Stillman is that if he does get a chance to play in Buffalo because he might not is that he hits a lot and he fights a lot because that’s literally all we need from him
Leafs have already traded most of their future away, not sure what else they could give unless it's a hockey trade 😂
Maybe Carolina comes out of nowhere and takes Patrick Kane? Idk how they'd make it work under the cap but wouldn't be the first time everyone was sure a player was going somewhere only for them to go somewhere completely different
You can't just go out and get someone just to get someone! Many things factor in. What signings are coming up down the road? How much can a team give up for a player? What does that player bring to the team that the team doesn't already have? Will this player be a fit with our system? How will that player effect the teams chemistry? The Canes need what they have always lacked in the playoffs- GRITT, TOUGHNESS!!!!! Every year the Canes get bullied out of the playoffs. They need a guy or two that will stand up for the skilled players.
Last year was on Rod! ZERO wins on the road in the playoffs with ZERO changes to the lineup! Smith was in Vs Boston for his grit. But against the Rangers his play was not at all good. He had Bear who would have made the back end faster. DeAngello had the fans in his head and was pure trash. Bear could have been used on the powerless power play. In the playoffs you have to make changes when it's not working. As much as I love RBA, that was a coaching fail.
Personally I think it's highly unlikely that landy returns this season. I don't think that he or the coaching staff are willing to risk him reinjuring his knee trying to rush him back in time for the playoffs. Not to mention the dude hasn't set foot on the ice for about 6 months up until he started skating recently. Even if he was rehabbed enough come playoffs there's no way he's going to be conditioned enough to participate and contribute the way we need our 1C to contribute.
My best guess is we keep him on ltir and use his salary cap for a reliable, veteran second or third line center as a rental.
Last trade dubas needs to make is from Vancouver: Dakota Joshua, Luke Schenn, 4th round pick. From Toronto: Alex Kerfoot
Not sure how I feel about this trade. Bloom has size, speed, scoring ability and has improved his game at CHL level. Welcome to Buffalo Stillman!
As a caps fan, I have nothing but love and admiration for both Poile and Trotz, for obvious reasons. I'm so happy Barry gets the opportunity to be an NHL GM.
that clairvoyant call with schenn to the leafs!
As a Wings fan, if Stevie Y gets that for Bertuzzi, Detroit would need to build a shrine to him the following day!
