Sutter goes back to the farm with $8 million. Not a bad deal for him

Really too bad. He must have lost the room as he’s still the best coach we’ve had in 30+ years with no close second. Hope the team somehow keeps Chris Sutter.

Regardless of what you think of him this is a sad day. If this season had gone anywhere near expectations this wouldn’t be happening.

Does he deserve some blame for the season being a shit show? Absolutely.

Is it all his fault? Absolutely Not

Darryl is the best coach this team has ever had but hopefully a new voice can get through to this new core group of players and get the most of them, just like Darryl did for the team last year

Let’s go now I’m excited for next year now if we can get a decent coach

Exit interviews probably said a lot especially with all the headlines lately there has to be some truth to it… kind of excited to see how Huberdeau and Kadri play under a different coach… maybe there’s a chance

Now let’s fire Muller and bring up Mitch Love

Had to be done. There was too much toxicity surrounding him and the organization. Seemed a good guy, and his game plan actually still does work in today’s NHL but the way he carries himself and how he treats his players just isn’t conducive to success. Good luck to him

Free at last, Free at last! Thank God the offense is free at last!
No one in southern Alberta wants to see a minute more of any Sutters’ hockey.

Not that Darryl needed it, but that’s a nice retirement cheque.

    The carousel of coaches continues..

I was expecting that they wouldn’t figure out what to do with Sutter until a GM was hired, but I’m glad that Maloney and the rest of management held true to their word about reviewing everything. It was clear that the players had major issues with Sutter. Getting a fresh voice on the bench will do wonders for this team. I think the guys got a much needed morale boost from this, which was one of the key things that needed to happen this offseason. I’m really excited to see what this does for Huberdeau.

You guys got what you wanted. I sincerely hope you’re right about this one. I’d like to see Mitch Love in there. He’ll get hired somewhere else if we don’t.

    Worst move possible. 🙁

It took Sutter 2 years to get the other guys playing the way they needed to. He needed 1 more season here. He’s the best and we are idiots.

What a crazy freaking off-season so far. I would not have seen this coming two years ago.

I do not know how to feel.

I figured two more years of Sutter hockey and this team would be bottom three in the league and have no choice but to rebuild.

Now they will probably have a decent season, make playoffs and then be out first round.

Does this just ensure more mediocrity?

Sutter was brought in to bring a team that was on the verge closer to winning a Stanley Cup… that is not the team this is now, and it was the right decision for both sides. I don’t blame Sutter for what happened last season like a lot of people do though.

Probably needed to be done, but it’s a sad day.

He’s the main reason we won a round in 2022, and were somewhat a contender. He certainly was far from perfect, but he was also vastly better than Gulutzan/Ward/Peter’s

Let’s hope we can find another great coach, and this time someone who can keep a locker room for more than a season

The reality is there’s just too much blame to go around and too many people that need to own it. Last season was a freak year stats wise, but people still need to be held accountable and both the players and coaches are at fault.

I know people have wanted to shit on Sutter, and personally I think we need to move on from him, but it is still a shitty feeling. Shows how messed up things are.
