I think this is why they picked up slaf last yr. 6.4 230 at 18yrs old. They knew where they would sit this yr in the draft and whats available. So why not get a 18yr old 6.4 230 lb giant in a garbage draft an scoop up the talent in this yrs high-end draft. Maybe their thinking that far ahead. They should be cuz thats why they get paid.

I brought that up on tropical habs a month ago and now everyone is talking about it, Bobrov’s record is shit , Slafkovsky is shit, mesar is shit, lafreniere is shit but most team would of picked him, kakko is shit, krvstov is shit. Besides shesterkin , Bobrov couldn’t hold Timmins jock strap. 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂ The habs couldn’t afford to fuck up last year, before then no Slovak had been drafted in the top 5 and by some sort of miracle Slafkovsky, Nemec and mesar all went in the first round , when something like this happens it means one of those guys made the other two looked good and it’s clear that Nemec was the guy who should of went first, same thing happens when a bunch of London knights gets drafted in the first round , most of them will be bust. The question is , why is it that some random guy like me sitting on his couch can pick that up but not professional scout? Like wtf? Hughes and gorton are well aware of the numerous fuck ups from bobrov but trust him with the only 1st overall pick in 40 years for the habs
We can say a lot of things about timmins but he rarely picked in the top ten and he could sure find a defenseman where others couldn’t, I always liked timmins and I think that this rebuilt is going to shit with many of the habs prospect being put in tough situation which are resulting in serious injuries. Hughes had a good start but again , the scouting group are a joke , the development team is even worst and when hugues saw all those injuries and that xhekaj was actually talented , he should of went and got a real goon to defend his young core and stop xhekaj from having to play the sherif on a tiny and fragile team
, the habs needs a real goon for a couple years, a decent goalie and they can’t afford to fuck up anymore drafts
habs have many little guys in the system now they should draft bigger bodies!
