Not coming back because you don’t like the coach sounds like a player problem.
Don't promote Don Maloney he sucks
FUN FACT: In addition to shots per game, the Flames also led the league in total shots hit off the post.
I’m glad Sutter’s gone – even if it was a couple of months overdue – and I hope the Flames’ luck on the ice next year can improve as the locker room does!
(maybe calling up Wranglers’ head coach Mitch Love can help with that?)
I understand why it is the way it is, but I'll echo that I too would prefer the playoffs just be the top 16 teams.
Jesus christ. I blocked Sportsnet so I wouldn't even have to see the cancer that is Steve Dangle show up on my feed. Thanks youtube.
You can't blame the Markstrom for the Calgary missing the playoffs. They got the same quality of goaltending as the Kraken (.895 and .887 for their tandem), better goaltending than LA (.876 and .868 from their tandem before trading for Korpisalo), and better goaltending than what Edmonton got from Campbell (.888).
The Flames problem is that they are the fifth best team in an 8 team division. A good team would have overcome the goaltending issues (LA, SEA, EDM).
How about a soundcheck?
Sutter never should've been extended. He BLEW the series against EDM by playing the goaltender with a double GAA against them. He also elected to play a defence first/shutdown style against EDM. Here's a newsflash for you, IT DOESN'T WORK!!! Todd Mclellan might tell you so (probably not).
The only team that's gotten past the Oilers thus far is the Avs (in spectacular fashion). Guess what they did? They blitzed EDM's weak defence, something Calgary DID DO in game 1 against the oilers! It's quite effective, EDM doesn't have a strong defence, it's their only weakness. It's mind boggling that Darryl Sutter got extended after choosing to abandon this playstyle that won them their only game against EDM.
I'm not sure when Sutter crossed the line from gruff no nonsense coach to miserable old man that no one liked but he was well past that line this year.
Coming out now that Sutter didn't practice the power play or 3-on-3 all year. All. Year. Wonder if that had an impact on those OT losses?!?
If it was 1-16 the leafs would've played….. THE LIGHTNING….HAHAHAHA
I was thinking bruce
Steve Dangle is so annoying
As a flames fan I feel non of our new additions bought into Sutters system, and the players who have for two years are sick of it when no everyone is buying in.
Ontario perspective as as always
Well when the news is that the province is looking to pick up 2/3 of the tab on a new stadium, you suddenly have hundreds of millions of dollars that you can use for things like… firing your miserable coach
Flames get too much respect. They only did well last season when, as luck would have it, a bunch of their guys had career years. Then they were exposed in the playoffs. The year before last, they missed the playoffs. This year, back to form. Miss the playoffs.
Really good coaches have a little good cop and a little bad cop. You might not see them both but if a coach is all one or the other eventually they'll get in their own way.
Joel Quenville
What’s Travis Green up to these days? I’ve always been curious what he could do with a team that had actual players instead of the crapwagon he had in Van
Toronto fans that keep saying they want just the top 16 teams as the playoff format are simply the worst. They completely don't understand just how bad it would be for the Eastern teams as they would have to face Western teams, travel a ton more, and play at all sorts of different start times. Seriously, stop with that narrative, you look simple.
