OK guys, in this Habs Thoughts video, its time to sit back and talk about the state of the defensemen of the Montreal Canadiens. With Joel Edmundson possibly returning next week after the road trip, this means that the Habs will have 8 active defensemen, and two of them are likely to find themselves being the odd ones out. The most likely trio to find themselves getting the axe when Eddy returns, is two of Sami Niku, Chris Wideman and Bret Kulak.
Sami Niku played a nice role in the Habs only win of the season against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, and will likely get back into action again against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night based on this.

Edmundson is beyond needed & Niku looked great lastnight
The defense here just a mess in my opinion. However it still has some potential. Instead of "The Four Horsemen", it's going to be "The Three Musketeers." (It sounds a lot less cool). Anyways, I liked Niku's game last night. I think the first pair should be Eddie and Petry. Second pair should be Chiarot and Kulak. Third pair should be Niku and Savard. Romanov hasn't impressed me all that much. Wideman is decent, but Kulak has proven to be a capable top 4 D-man. We don't appreciate Kulak's effort enough. He is a two-way defender who always puts in the effort, and I think he finally should get recognition that he deserves.

I think Niku was impressive and better than Romin-off, so I would have to say Romanov and Wideman are odd men out

Edmundson is very underrated. Hopefully his father gets better, he comes back and solidifies the fragile defense and all is well in Habs land.
Wideman’s been some hot gabagio this season. I really like Kulak as a Honda Civic fourth liner (old reliable but nothing special) but I would be bummed if he got sidelined
Edmunson is going to raise Petrie’s game one notch hopefully, and Niku should do the same for Romanov.

I was thinking about MB going to LA next season, that's fuckin hilarious, Danault just signed like a 5 or 6 year deal there, to get away from Bergevin, and then Bergevin becomes the GM there next season!!! lolol. U cant run from your problems!!! He has a goal and an assist so far this year, in 7 games, Danault.
