Immeasurably sad and angry at the blown cup run opportunity given the several powerhouse first-round losses, and yet the only thing getting me to sleep tonight is the fact the almighty, once-in-a-lifetime Bruins also didn’t make it through. Thanks Florida

i know i’m just saying this in the heat of the moment but this team might be the most unlikable on-ice team we’ve had in a long time, and we’ve had some unsavory characters over the years. i’m just totally disgusted by the lack of heart i guess.

If some team (god forbid) the rangers give sign Patrick Kane… or let alone give him much more than the minimum… this league will have just outed itself as dumb once again.

I give drury a pass on the first go around, it’s a good lotto ticket. But he’s very clearly washed and not a guy that has any value in a bottom 6… and what team wants him in a top 6?

Not many players who weren’t disappointing as a whole. The depth and role players did their jobs well enough — Lindgren, Goodrow, Motte, Trouba, Schneider, Mikkola — but almost all of the scorers were sub-par other than Kreider, and Tarasenko for half the series.

Once they came out in the 1st and were sloppy with the puck all over the ice, it just seemed like their heads weren’t in it tonight, with Panarin leading the shit parade. I think he made four bad passes/turnovers in the 1st alone! Infuriating.

And Zibanejad has not been strong on the puck or the boards for like one second the whole series. Was he hurt? He’s not the most rugged player, but he’s usually a lot more competitive.

They really need to supplement the top-6 with playoff grit and muscle but given how cap maxed they are, I have no idea how they can do it.

As for Gallant, whatever. He wasn’t the reason they lost the series, they lost the series because the only way Zibanejad, Fox, Panarin, and some others can thrive is when they get space, which doesn’t happen often in the playoffs. They can bring in a new coach, that’s fine, but they’re fundamentally a perimeter/regular season team. I don’t know who can transform them other than Quenneville, but he’s still untouchable presumably. Laviolette sure ain’t gonna do it, and Trotz has a job.

  5. Time to turn our attention to the Wolf Pack boys. Up 2-0 in their best of 5 division semifinals. Been on fire so far

At least Miller stuck up for Igor. Loved seeing that. Long overdue.

  7. Who would’ve thought that those no-effort games early in the season would be our demise in the last game of the season too.

Although I guess it makes sense when your coach has no strategy or adjustments

  8. xXDireLegendXx

It seems like a lack of effort with this group has been there all year long. Us die hard folks have seen it. Those who watch game in and game out. As soon as there is some good amount of adversity we’re in trouble.

Bruins lost in game 7 but clawed back and put up a fight. Against all the pressure they had the game won until a last minute goal and a resilient Panthers team beat them in OT.

Avalanche lost in game 7 and also went down early and fought back too. They lost a tying goal on an offside challenge and fought to the last second with pressure the whole game.

Rangers lost in game 7 and failed to even show up and looked out of place the entire night. If it wasn’t for Igor the game would’ve been 8-0.

    Pretty shameful.

Rangers got beat by a professional hockey team. When the rangers decide they want to play nhl level hockey in game 7 of the playoffs, maybe they will do better.
I have been watching rangers hockey for 23 years, and wow was this predictable. A passenger of a coach who would rather be a tv analyst, and a team full of passengers waiting for someone else to light a spark.
Garbage team playing fancy boy hockey, couldn’t find the enthusiasm. It’s not new; it’s hit or miss every night for decades.
Great media coaching though. One good coach on the team, Allaire too, they must pay him a fortune.
Can’t convince me that Drury, who i cautiously respect didn’t want to stand pat on Tarasenko, and fucking Sather forced his hand for Kane. After that, the whole team thought Kane was a leader and deferred to him. But nope, another follower in Manhattan.
    This fucking team man.

Here’s a kneejerk reaction I just thought of since everyone is shitting on the kids. Since it doesn’t fucking matter at the beginning of the season and regardless of whether Gallant stays or goes the Rangers oughtta put the kids on the top line and give them 20 games to see if they have what it takes. Chytil has had 6 or 7 seasons of experience, Kakko 4 or so and Laf with 2 or so. Put it all out on the line for them and let them see if they figure it out.

Literally just move the first and second line down and let the kids drive the bus for a bit. If it works out, great, now we don’t have to worry about the future. If it doesn’t work out, also great, the kids can continue to be cemented as the third line grind they are already at and hopefully the top 6 figures their fucking shit out.

  11. Powerful_Tradition43

Miller only deserves 1 million a year max or he’s off the team. I don’t care if Laf and Kakko become jt miller and stamkos on other teams, rangers ownership will never allow them to do it here.

  12. Tommybrady20

    what’s the theme?

Toronto, Jersey, Florida, and Carolina are all UBER – NERDY ANALYTICS PROCESS BASED orgs.

James Dolan isn’t letting one of his teams be run like that and it’s probably to our detriment, the man loves a “star” and a headline more than anything.

  13. greysfordays

I am gonna miss the GDTs here so much and how much fun I had, wish we had a yearbook to sign or something where we could all say let’s totally hang out this summer and then we just see each other in the fall instead (seriously tho GDTs brought me so much joy this season so thank you all)

  14. nycsports1993

Drury recently cleaned out the scouting department, including moving on from long-time, well-respected folks like Gordie Clark. Time for him to now follow suit with those in charge of player development.

Fire Jed Ortmeyer and Tanner Glass and replace them with people who actually fit the fucking job description. Get rid of any other Sather holdovers who have no place in this organization.

  15. DrFrocktopus

Tough end to a tough season. This was a winnable series but at the end of the day they couldnt get it done. Personally I think thats more of a cultural issue than a talent one and I’m hoping for a coaching change and maybe a change to the leadership group- but with the contract structure the latter is a tough ask.

  16. xXDireLegendXx

I honestly wonder how much jitters the Devils had going into Game 1 and 2. It seemed like they turned a switch and we had no answer the rest of the way. Completely folded

  17. Just disappointment and pain… Can’t believe they blew that 2-0 road lead with so many no shows from their top players/kid line. Just no words but disappointment considering the potential path that just developed… Idek where they go from here because it’s so hard to look past what could have been

  18. Thank you to those of you who are being reasonable about my guy Patrick Kane.

If you bring an aging vet to your team and he becomes the best player on your team, then your team has serious problems.

Newsflash: you didn’t want Patrick Kane being the best player on the ice. You wanted Mika being the best player on the ice.

Kane put one game away for you all and had 6 pts in 7 games. Only two other rangers had more points.

I dunno what the deal was, the whole team looked like they were sleepwalking out there tonight, and I include Kane in that, but he did have some good plays and hustled – he wasn’t dogging it. Maybe he could have brought more fire, but Kane was never the guy to roll heads on the bench, that was Toews.

The only way you can blame Kaner for this exit is if he was out pouring shots for the guys last night. Which…you never know.

I’ve enjoyed watching this team last year and this year, and I’ll continue to root for them next season, with or without Patty Kane.

You guys are a great fanbase, and I feel for you right now.

    Take care and Fuck NJ.

  19. Snoo40099

Mika was absent most of the series. Panarin as well. They made too many dumb passes and they kept looking for the perfect shooting lane.

  20. Mango_120

Now that I’ve cooled down a bit, how’s next season looking?

Gotta be a coaching change. We are probably losing Kane and/or Tarasenko, maybe Miller if we decide to sign one of these two. Honestly not too bad.

Worst part is that this was such a free path to the finals outside of round 1. Hope Panarin and the rest of the top lines (except for kreids) don’t shit the bed next season.

    LGR.

  21. pinkwhitney24

We all love the rangers. Fuck you for not being there tonight. Thank you for the season.

LGR! On to the next one.

  22. pizza_nightmare

Rangers has plenty of power play opportunities tonight. They could have faked it by scoring on at least two of them

  23. pizza_nightmare

Rangers had plenty of power play opportunities tonight. They could have faked it by scoring on at least two of them.

Again forcing Mika with the one timer. Just get pucks on net

  24. nycsports1993

After firing Gallant, Drury needs to be stationed outside of Panarin’s apartment in the morning pleading for him to waive that fucking no movement clause.

  25. YoungOG41

I really wish we would’ve capitalized on at least 1 of the 3 power plays that we had in the first period cuz it would’ve completely changed the game and perhaps the outcome of the game. Tarasenko had a great chance from the slot that just missed the net and Mika had multiple great looks from his usual one timer spot. And as great as fox is, it’s so frustrating watching how reluctant he can be to shoot from the point. Like just put it on net, he’s always looking for the perfect pass/play. That was probably his worst game as a Ranger, he didn’t want to skate all game for some reason and his nonchalant handling of the puck on the 4th PP really costed the season.

  26. Mitcheeeey

    Where to next year..

New Coach for sure, I’d love to re-sign Tarasenko, Kane will end up gone and I don’t really want Miller
re-signed, he’s a liability. With that, definitely need a better defensive core, Fox Lindy Trouba and Schneider are solid enough but the left side lacks.

Re-signing the kid line should be cheap as chips now considering how blatantly average they’ve been.
