What’s happening with Kailer Yamamoto

There’s been a lot of talk about Kailer Yamamoto after his lack of production especially in the playoffs

  1. Mini-moto's gotta go… he's got all the spirit you could ever ask for from a teammate, but seeing him get pinballed, lose races, miss a pass, or miss a shot over the playoffs is not helping his game or the team… painful to watch.

  2. Until Kane and Hyman scored yesterday, they looked pretty ineffectual as well. I really liked Bjugstad, Foegele, and Ryan in how they've been buzzing and I didn't see the same in Kane (injured) and Hyman.

So I'm not at all worried about Yamo.

Look, even the Nuge isn't scoring like crazy either. As long as they're playing defensively sound in a tight checking series, that's all I want. If Yamo is a clear defensive liability, that's when I'm worried.

  3. I would like Holland to bring Connor brown in the off season!…I think he would be great in the top six with Connor!

  4. He was never that good to begin with, the only reason he’s as “good” as he is, is because he’s playing with players like McDavid, Leon, nuge. He’s also weak on the forecheck doesn’t throw the body, seems like he falls down every play, he doesn’t shoot the puck and always forces the pass even if there’s nothing there

  5. He's got to be moved. He's not worth 3.1m next season and won't be worth his qualifying offer the season after.

  6. Problem is. He already is tenacious and super hard working in the regular season. He can't ratchet his game up any higher come playoff time. Everyone is giving 110% out there, Yamo's effort isn't an asset in the playoffs.
That's my opinion I came up with last night lol

  7. There's a whole lot more to the game than the point stat….. When ALL the top scorers want him on their line, it's because he produces what they need for the team to succeed. Isolate on him next game and you will see what they see in his game. Nobody wants Yamo to score more than Yamo does. I've been watching him play since his WHL days in Spokane and he fully deserves to be where he is today.

  8. Forechecking isn't enough. We will do better with a different guy in that spot. I expect him to score 15-20 playing with the players he does. He doesn't even get that many fucking assists! He isn't good enough for his position on the team. Plain and simple, no argument.

  9. Yams, as tenacious as the player is. We've got players like him but bigger. We can sell Yamamoto for a good price. Which in the past we'd undersell.

We can sell Yamamoto high and get a good return back. Either in a near-ready prospect or take the cap space you're free from as apart of the natural deal.

Raphael Lavoie is where my money would be on his replacement. Free of cost since he'd be homegrown.

  10. He doesn't need points, he needs to be a mosquito again like he was in the first previous seasons. Be annoying and draw penalties. His game is to pressure the opposers and get under their skin. His size is an asset when someone cross checks him a little bit. He hits the ice and makes it look fucking brutal. I feel like he is trying to be Johnny hockey but can't finish the way he does so he needs to play his own game and be better at his own game rather than trying to play like other small players

  11. swap yamo with kostin, kostin is playing like a demon on the loose the way he is hitting and creating chaos in the O-Zone

  12. we are paying Yams 3 million to do a job that a guy making 950k can do. He has no offensive presence whatsoever, and bringing up the fact that he gets the puck and passes to the elite players is something anyone in the NHL can do and for other teams its extremely predictable play. He lost his finish as a forward as he's missed the entire net on multiple point blank opportunities and gets roughed off the puck in the boards due to his small size. Instead of demoting him to the bottom 6 they promote him to the top line with Mcdavid and Draisaitl, it makes absolutely no sense.

  13. He never really does. Just gets point in streaks being around McD & Drais so much…. and he demands every penny or sits out.. so at $3.1mil hurts the Cap – as need some production at $3.1m.

  14. He’s to small for Playoff hockey
The compete level he has to achieve to compete every shift is just unattainable
    Playoff’s are a different game
He’s to small for the Postseason…

  15. How does yamamoto get that much icetime when all he does is just skate around ! Kostin hits shoots and scores goals and he gets sat explain to me how and why yams gets more icetime than klim

  16. He tries, but he is too small and is easily pushed off the puck. It’s not about how hard he tries. Zuccerello and Point are small also, but they bring a little more speed and evasiveness.
Fogele and Ryan aren’t much of an upgrade, but they have a bit more tenacity and desire for puck possession, and are a lot harder to play against.
Wish I would see Yamamoto win more puck battles, but he doesn’t. Wish he was more effective, but he isn’t period.

  17. Oilers have had a hard time winning puck battles off the boards so far in this series . Yamamoto wins puck battles off the boards. Whoever thinks he should be sitting is just talking out of frustration because they thought ( And most Oiler fans Did think ) this series was over in 4-5 games. If oilers were walking into game 5 up 3 games to 1 nobody would be talking about the refs Yama or Nurse . 3 out of 4 games have gone to overtime. Give Kings credit they have found away to defend the Oilers pretty well . And have been amazing at baiting the Oilers into playing LA kings hockey .

  18. Yamamoto is like that asian formula 1 or indy car driver… what ever, he is nhler but will never be a hall of fame

  19. Everyone needs to get off the Oilers their fine. You can sit and judge all you want. Yr not the ones playing. Just cheer them on and shut up

  20. What are you watching? He has underperformed period. Top 6 minutes means you MUST get top 6 points.

  21. He’s producing in the forecheck. Constantly hunting pucks, pressuring when no one else is and keeping LA in their own zone. Reason why he’s playing on top lines even if he doesn’t score.
