“The Best Records In Sports Don’t End In Championships” – Dan Patrick On The Bruins’ Loss | 05/01/23
Dan Patrick reacts to the Boston Bruins getting eliminated by the Florida Panthers in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after wining a record 65 wins during the regular season
I can only say about Bruins, "Ha, ha, ha." A slug can be an ace at whatever a slug does but no one wants to watch a slug, or look at Marchand. Commonality 😈
The best record means nothing in the playoffs—media is clueless about that concept. Bruins will give some excuse; Ullmark was injured or maybe the pressure on him was too much to bear! Not playing until game 7 means Swayman will be blamed for the loss and early exit. Biggest question is will the coach stay or be out!
That's why its so often said. It's a brand new season once the playoffs start. And i love it when arrogant and smug fans and teams get eliminated early. They feel invincible and then they get complacent. Every time it happens, i laugh. Because the fans and players will have a million reasons why they lost, except the number one reason, because they took their opponents for granted. Every time it happens i laugh.
he Dan….let's pump the brakes on the best record ever. in 1976-77 Montreal only lost 8 games. played 80 not 82. had 132 points after 80 games and boston had 131 after 80….with OVERTIME WINS. there was no overtime then. boston won 10 OT games? and fyi the canadiens not only won the cup, they only lost 2 games in their playoff run. There are probably just as many examples of teams that finished first winning the championship as well. Dolphins, bulls more than once, celtics more than once, Lakers, canadiens multiple times.
Uggh.. The Bruins didn't "Collapse", they just lost… The only record that matters is the record of the previous games the Bruins and Panthers played this season. They split 2 games to 2, BEFORE the Panthers got Tkatchuck.. This series was always destined to be a coin flip. Everyone got too focused on the B's overall record, which is irrelevant when you're trying to figure how they will play against one specific team. Terrible analysis this year in hockey. Overall records mean NOTHING in the playoffs because they aren't playing the whole league, just one team. The Bruins played one of a couple teams that gave them problems all year.
It doesn’t end in a championship when the Bruins have 6 Canadian players and Florida had 14. Rangers season ends with a roster containing 4 players while New Jersey had 10.

72' Dolphins say otherwise, should have said "Most of the Best Records . . . "
They do in Chicago.
So what do they do? Throw games?
Seattle Mariniers…too soon, dude. Too soon.

Before this year, the Habs had the best ever record (132 points), for 46 years and won the championship.
Before 2016, the 1996 Bulls had the best ever record and won the championship.
Before that, it was the 73 Lakers (69 wins) and won the championship.
Before that, it was the 1967 76ers (68 wins) and won the championship.
