   I don't actually think it's that bad of a shout, just until the end of the season. I reckon he'd keep them up and then they get the right person in the summer. The right long-term manager might not be the right person for a relegation battle and they might not want it at this moment anyway.

   As a Newcastle fan I agree 100 pct. that Roy would be the perfect choice for the job from now to end of season. Would keep us up and the club can work on a long term manager.

   The idea that the Newcastle players aren't good enough based on the league position is disingenuous. Those same players, defence and midfield in particular, looked like actual players under Benitez. There was even talk of England caps for Lascelles and Shelvey, and a £50m transfer for Longstaff. I don't necessarily believe Benitez would be the right choice moving forward, I personally would much rather a coach that values youth players. But the performances under his watch, and without the investment that Steve Bruce has been afforded, illustrates that those players are certainly up to task (as well as the gulf in ability between Bruce and a capable manager.)

    Murphy and Hodgson are represented by the same agency. Murphy is working on behalf of his agency by promoting one of their other clients. He has an ulterior motive. He, like many pundits, is simply untrustworthy in his "analysis" of the game.

    Another example; look through the list of mn2s clients. Littered with TalkShite presenters. And a certain Steve Bruce. Funny that eh?

    Remember R Ferdinand spouting rubbish and standing up for M Ashley? Guess at which sports store you can find his clothing line!

    These people cannot be trusted to offer an impartial view. They are crooks and are proponents of the game's destruction.

    Now I think everyone must have realised by now that Murphy just makes things up as he goes along and is part of a closed shop in punditry. The vast majority ( with the exception of Roy Keane and Simon Jordan) of them just agree with each other, will not critcise any of their bretheren and never say anything that could be deemed as controversial.

    Newcastle will be ok. Hopefully lots of excitement but a manager in place then January things will change. Few players in and strengthen squad to stay up . Mid table l would say if they get the right man in.

    I've been saying it myself for a while now – get Roy Hodgson in until season's end just to preserve our Premiership status and build from there with or without Roy. I wouldn't have thought Conte, Fonseca, etc would want to come in and fix the leaky boat? Those managers want to be straight in to the superyacht (no offence intended).
