Flyers’ Konecny drawing inspiration from father, turning heads
Those closest to Travis Konecny of the Philadelphia Flyers say he’s always exhibited drive, determination, and an outright stubbornness to reach his goals. Something he learned from his father during the toughest of times.
Kid was tearing it up to start the year showing huge potential. Him and Voracek were just carving teams up with their passing. Then they took Voracek off his line to help Giroux who was struggle and Konecny's scoring dropped as result. His drop in scoring mixed with some defensive shortcomings caused him to get benched a few times which killed his confidence the rest of the year. Hopefully next year Hakstol lets the kid do his thing next season and instead of worrying so much about his defense.
Flyers have been lucky with young talent this season with Konecny, Provorov, Weal and Leier and with the Second pick this year we really need to spend the next season developing our new guys as much as possible, i wouldn't be upset if we started selling off older players to allow young players to take on more important roles. Worked for the Leafs, with players like Giroux or Simmonds supporting them, they should be lethal in a few seasons.
