The second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin tonight and the reality of an early exit for the Boston Bruins is settling in.

Plus, a look at what’s next for the Bruins, including locker cleanout, comments from players, coaches, and the front office, possible retirements and trades, and the draft and free agency.

  1. So, additionally, we now know that Bergeron was playing with a herniated disk. I would point out while Marchand was leading the team up to game 5 they were 3 -1. Bergeron came back and they lost the last 3 (5, 6, & 7). Between Ullmark and Bergeron…. yeah, that may have been the issue. Still, I am very grateful for a thrilling season. Sure, they didn't bring home the Cup, but during the season they gave me so much joy. And the records they set will stand for decades. Such a phenomenal achievement.

  2. Bruins clearly need to get a few draft picks, and cap space

grizzy/forbort/hall- trade one or maybe 2

  3. Game 7 was not on Sway. He came in cold and hadn't played for almost 2 weeks. He had them less than a minute away from winning the series until McAvoy scored on him, and he was the only one who came out of the locker room for OT.

  4. They'll make up excuses for ullmark but he wasn't hurt… just not a playoff goalie..
If he had a "debilitating" injury why was he playing?
    Im not buying it

  5. I'm deeply ignorant about relations and implications of "draft", "trade" and "sign". Could anyone explain me that?

  6. Something beyond comprehension rattled the Bruins. All those player played hundreds of games and playoff games before yet it seemed like it was their first competition. I’m beginning to think something was not right in the dressing room.

  7. I’m not worried about the future. Let the UFA’s walk. Trade a couple RFA’s. Bring up the top line from the AHL and make them the Bruins 4th line. Maybe a guy like Lysel will excel playing with a Marchy or pasta. A youth injection will be good because new players will take over the leadership.

  8. They probably should have used the same goalie rotation in the playoff that they used during the regular season. Probably.

  9. What's next for the Boston Bruins? Who cares? I am done with this team. Unfortunately, I was not surprised that they folded in the playoffs. Except for 2011, they always fold in the playoffs. Fire everyone and start over.

  10. Hang in there Ian. This is a tough one. It's hard not to take it personally. It sure as hell feels personal. It was a monumental collapse. I can't get past the head coach. I don't think I could look at him with a happy thought again. He doesn't deserve all of the blame, but he deserves a giant chunk of it. Enough of that unpleasantness!!

Before I check out for the year I'd just like to thank you for your Locked On work. I discovered two podcasts that helped me enjoy the season far more than usual (for better or for worse). I listened to every one of your podcasts during the season. Thank you so much. If I come back to watch the Bruins next year (that's a big if, it's too painful) I will certainly be a listener of Locked On BB. I'll stay subscribed in my podcast app and on You Tube. Hopefully I can get my enthusiasm back. You do wonderful work!!! Thank you

  11. Defense was the problem, some goaltending but it was team defense. This is something that (cassidy, who is still in the playoffs) made sure they took care of 1st. Montes team is much more open. Maybe that does not worki in the playoffs? i also feel the breaks went floridas way, marchand and pastranak not scoring on breakaways? where was zacha?? where was that 4th line goal? we just looked slow as a team. but we couldve won, we needed someone to take over, almost but didnt happen…

  12. Go Vegas Go… Bruce Cassidy… yesssss and stop the excuses with the Injuries after game 4 everybody on the team was a conn Smythe trophy winner… for bruins fans and never speak of the so called fake record 150 points ever again because you always be reminded of this humiliating loss and I love it always happens at the TD Garden… I'm a Habs fan I believe that the Ghosts of the old Forum have moved to the Garden to Jinnx the bruins inn the biggest games just like the old days in montreal… don't worry bruins will have a very competitive team again next year no matter who's inn the lineup that's their specialty the REGULAR Season… 6 cups inn 100 years with the power house teams they've always had…😂😂😂😂😂 take care Ian
