Guerin really disappointed me with his excuse making press conference. Russo asked a very valid question and Guerin went bully mode, deflected answering the question about making it to the 2nd round and how that doesn’t win your a cup. Well Bill, if you can’t make it to the 2nd round you will never be able to win a cup. His whole attitude just reeked of confrontation, excuses and a lack of any real answers. So disappointing seeing the leader of the Wild come off as an egotistical jerk who dared anyone question him. Guerin has won nothing so far and his 1st round pick in Rossi is still in the AHL while other 1st round picks are playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Iowa team he has built is hugely disappointing. Guerin referring to the cap issues will be his built in go to excuse for the next 2 seasons. If the Wild are indeed flops the next 2 seasons and we don’t any good young talent coming up to fill the 1st 2 lines and bring us a real center, I will be the first one to say it is time to move on from Guerin. When they start going into excuse making mode, that is a warning sign. I get that Guerin gets love because of his apparent no BS attitude, but when you really dive deep into the Wild, their roster is largely comprised of other GM’s players. I was going to give him credit for Boldy but then realized he was not a Guerin draft pick. That honor goes to Rossi. Now he did acquire Faber which looks like a great move. But it was only because we had to get rid of Fiala. And what are we getting for Dumba when he leaves? With all the love for Guerin here I felt it absolutely necessary to bring in a new counter opinion. Most will disagree but we will see 2 or even 3 years from now when the Wild are still mired in mediocrity. Guerin has perpetuated that mediocrity and if you look at Iowa’s roster, there is some talent, but is there 1st or 2nd line talent? My fear is that it is just more of the same middle of the road players.
