Draisaitl certainly was a beast tonight, but he can't do it alone. We would all like to see the team play a more disciplined game defensively, and to limit the amount of time in the box. Every second counts. Gotta make the most of it. Now is the time to extract every ounce of potential from the guys. They can do it.
All in all it wasn't as bad as some would shout in the heat of the moment, but game 1 was to feel them out , the line jumbles i know Woody thinks its like Lego they fit anywhere, but that is not whats showing. Some line switch ups were awkward and showed player confusion and non conformity. Some lines and match ups work and some need work. now is not really the time to try untested match ups causing uncertainty in where and who was on each others lines. Sure it throws off Vegas, but clearly its showing it mixes up the forward pairings of the Oilers as well.
This is kinda on woody s much as the players tonight, you could see non familiar players unsure how new player on line skate, shoot, reacts, etc.. that's where the loose uncertain hesitation stemmed from .
Vegas did play hard and strong like they had to push hard to take on the oilers, which is to be expected. BUT Vegas CANT KEEP UP THAT pace , so as per last 2 years vs Vegas stats, historically factoring the Oilers should push 3 straight wins starting now if all things being equal based on past matching's and wins by the Oilers.
Game 1 is a testing ground and both teams played their asses off and both did well overall

How about benching Vinny and start Campbell for game 2. Skinner made some good saves tonight but 2 of those 5 goals were weak. Please don’t just blame the defence, he can't make a save when we really need it. Woodcroft is so good at adjusting his lines but he doesn’t really change the goalie for some reason.
I don't know why the Oilers Team didn't learn…They must to be out of the Box, And like NO more bad penalties, tsk! Or else they lost again a game… And the REF didn't call the Vegas when someone tripped Drai, tsk! Okey boys need to bounce back by Saturday…GO Oilers GO 💪🏒
I’m not worried at all about the loss I’m just annoyed that Leon played so well and we couldn’t get the win for him. The oilers just never really played their hockey, they spent majority of the game just kind of watching
IMO desharnais needs to tether his attention more closely to dealing with netfront positions at all times. He needs to be willing to slow roll his up ice attack if it means that someone else is in that position. Be patient beyond measure with their incoming speed and just keep plays infront until a real chance to physically interject on the play. Needs to be last line of defense when he plays at all times to maximize effect
Oilers sucked tonight. Skinner letting multiple goals back to back is something I expected from Campbell. Course our track record on game one in the Playoff series is like 0-7. I won't get all emmo till after Saturday's game.
I love Leon and Davo. They are so good. Its just sometimes i feel they get a free pass defensively. Mcdavid turned the puck over so many times tonight and Draisaitl continues to ignore defensive responsibilities. He always stops skating and back checking and his man scores so often. I know theres problems with the team like any and those 2 guys are the best in the world but with as often as they are on the ice they have to give everything they have in all moments. Not just with the puck and only in the o zone or during scoring opportunities. Again i know 73 wasn’t good, i know skinner has been struggling most of the playoffs, i know nuge isnt doing much, i know draisaitl has 11 goals in 7 games. Its just theres a reason crosby has cups and its because he was just as good in the d zone as the o zone and never took a moment off. I dont see that same attention to detail and effort in the d zone from our 2 best players. I sound like a hater but if we want a cup they are going to have to play as hard at their end of the ice as they do their opponents.
WTF is the only thing I can come up with for this team. This is the Playoffs. This is not the time for learning. The systems should be in place by now. I can't see them getting even a sniff at the cup. Sorry… not sorry.🤬

Issue is draisaitl isnt goinf to score 4 goals every game. Our depth was non existant tonight.
Why pull the goalie when it's an all but guaranteed freebie for the other team!
