When any-one player steps up like some kind of a god, and the rest of the team, while good (feeding him the passes etc), doesn't rise up to meet his level, then they are the same team they always have been. And as a lifelong oilers fan, it hurts me to say, they still don't deserve, and will not, win the cup, if they can't win a game like this one.

Oilers D and goaltending was the issue
Oilers are playing their first like around 23 minutes. The Golden Knights are playing their first line no longer than 17 minutes. McDavid and Dreisitl looked physically exhausted by the end of the game. Unless the VGK penalty rate increases, they're going to win the 5v5.
Everyone relax! It's one game. The penalties, and defence are killing them. In that game aways. Next game is ours.
4 goal preformance means nothing when you lose and only produce goals from 1 line, its not enough and never will be, gg.
Last year the Oilers let down McDavids 40 point playoff pace (iirc). This year they might do it with Draisaitl

Your bias here is pretty clear. Vegas played really well, everyone contributed, and you were all about the Oilers.
Pavs & Draisaitl deserve mad respect for their performance, no question, but it's still a team game.
edmonton needs the power play to win. they literally could not win if they wrent given so many scoring opps by the refs.
Maybe the rest of the Oilers will show up next game. This has to been one of the most talented teams while also being one of the worst coached teams.

Yea, its nice to say "oilers need their lines". Their lines havent been there all season, they have a below average set of points on those lines. Ive been saying this all season, edm had mcdavid and Drysdale carrying that team on their back. But the record breaking performance destructed everyone from the under performing team
LA was a different series. Mcdavid and drai need to be on different lines this series or we will lose the series our bottom 9 aren’t good enough without mcdavid and drai split up on the #1 #2 lines.

As good as the kings are, I feel like a victory over Edmonton is more of a lapse in play by the oilers than it is a success by Vegas

As a die hard Oiler fan this was a brutal game. The Oilers defence is so bad that it’s hard to watch at times. Desharnais continues to make bad decisions with the puck and Nurse plays so erratic. Just keep it simple and structured like Ekholm does.
“Wasted”. This was a learning experience. Oilers being resilient as always, they made a 3-1 come back. Impressive but still ended up losing. But they will breakdown their games and capitalize what they have to do aganist Vegas to win. I think game seven again or game 5 for oilers
The moral of the story Oilers fans is simple, the hockey gods are always aware. Shouldn’t have laughed so hard when Pavelski scored 4 and the Stars got beat.
They always blow the first game.. Jay will make adjustments and they should bounce back and shoot more, wear down the goalie like they did with LA
Forgot to mention Vegas played extremely well. Without power plays Edmonton stands no chance. No depth whatsoever. Stop sucking off the oilers and give credit where credit is due

It really looked like McDavid was trying to skate straight through the defense to bait penalties instead of shooting the puck when he had the opportunity. They can do so much better, it's painful to watch
