Larry Brooks talks Rangers’ disappointing finish, Gerard Gallant’s job status | New York Post Sports

The Post’s Larry Brooks joins Dexter Henry to review the Rangers’ season and much shorter attempt than the Blueshirts faithful would’ve liked at capturing the 2023 Stanley Cup title. Brooks also discusses how New York’s front office has handled the media’s speculations on Gerard Gallant’s job status.

  1. Gallant has to go. A 2-0 series lead blown? An absolute anemic "effort" in game 7? I've never seen a team so lackadaisical. It was painful to watch. Get Quennville.

  2. This is the NYR cycle, as it has been since I began (mid 60's) I became a fan. NYR are usually softer than the team thats beats them, do not develop forwards and draft poorly. Look at their top picks since 2017: : #7 Anderson, #21 Chytil, #9 Kravtsov, #22 Miller, #28 Lunqvist, #2 Kaako & #1 LaFrenierre. Two of their top ten picks were outright busts and the #2 & 1 are, to date, serviceable NHL players not even close to stardom.

  3. NHL post season is an absolute crap shoot. Look at the Bruins? Practically unbeatable yet a 1st round exit. Like I always said too many play-off teams.

  4. They would be absolute FOOLS if they can Gallant.

Can the defensemen coach. They chase too much in their own zone. They don’t know when to pinch and when not to pinch. That – and their Euro forwards not back checking enough, were the reasons why they lost.

  5. Rangers forwards have little to no physicality they don't play angry….Devils wouldn't let them fly through the neutral zone and they don't hit enough to play dump and chase.Very good skilled regular season team but their game doesn't translate to playoffs when the open ice gets scarce…they live and die with the PP not gonna get you 16 wins in the playoffs

  6. Last night Carolina could carry the puck into the devil's zone. The Rangers have no power Forwards.

  7. Is Killer instinct how you’d describe CK20, Mika or Panarin? All this rebuilding just to be the same old team..

  8. People saying trade Panarin didn’t watch a single game in the regular season and just watched the playoffs 😂😂😂

  9. Shesterkin played outstanding what are you smoking? What kind of question is that? In my opinion he deserves a Vezina again. If you look at Vezinas definition Igor Shesterkins face is next to it on the American Dictionary right next to brick wall

  10. Completely disagree on Miller. He regressed this yr. Inless je jad an injury we dont know about he needs to go. Way too many Dzone giveaways.

Panarin should give up half his salary to keep Tarasenko. Bread has turned to burnt toast

  11. This organization went in the wrong direction the day they hired John Davidson. He preached patience, and did the exact opposite. Enter Drury, and his bag of tricks is limited to giving away the future for rentals, way before the team was a legitimate contender. Back to the bottom we go.

  12. anyone that believes panarin is an asset for this team knows nothing about how hockey is played in may. he is the quintessential example of empty numbers, he piles up relatively meaningless points against the lower half of the league when games are easy to play. against the better teams, he is a liability on the ice…a turnover machine, incapable of backchecking. if they were smart, they would trade him to the first team willing to pay his ungodly salary
