In 2014-2015, when Carey Price won the Vezina, the Hart trophy & the Ted Lindsay award, the Habs offense was: 20th in in goals scored 25th in shots on goal per game 22nd on the powerplay

I’ll forever be disappointed that we were unable to give him even an average hockey team at any point in his career

And he still almost dragged our asses to a cup twice

I wish he had the biggest prize, the Stanley Cup. Go Habs Go!

It’s usually what happen when a GM decide to build around an elite #1 goalie: the team focus on defense.

Also, the only goalie in NHL history to win all 4 in the same season (with the Jennings).

Would love for him to come back in either the front office or in a coaching capacity and win a cup that way.

I think you could make an argument that it’s the best season ever by a goalie.

Montreal had a really good blue line to support price but the offence… oof

Just imagine the cup plus the Conn-Smythe in 2021 lol… heart-breaking.

  9. And people say that your MVP can’t be your goalie. The only reason that they don’t say that about Hasek is that he wasn’t the highest paid player with the Sabres.

Goal scoring alone wasn’t even the heart of the problem. People hated it, but Therrien actually knew how to win 1 or 2 goal games with Price. The problem was we had absolutely zero clutch goal scorers on the team, or even any threatening lines. No one we could put out there when we actually needed a goal. I remember one of the years the Blackhawks were winning cups we actually scored the same amount of goals as them (still bottom 10 though), but they still had so many dangerous players on their rosters that led them to multiple Cups.

  11. He was so dominant that year. It was amazing to watch. You know if they could just score three they’d probably win. And it carried forward into the next season. He was 10-2 to start the 15-16 season when he got injured, and things were never just quite the same after.

And if I remember correctly, he lost some of his stats in the last few games of the season.

He was legitimately flirting with a +.940 save % and a GAA in the 1.80s or lower for most of the season

Such an unfortunate career, what a waste of talent. Should have won many more awards but we always focused on bringing mid teams. Our goals always been to make playoffs, instead of winning a cup. Our actual direction will bring us to better days.

Remember about 4 years before that when most of Montreal was calling for Bobby G. to trade Price and keep Halak.

And then Bobby G. had his “thoroghbread” presser where he also had his bread baking analogy(IIRC)?? LoL.

The only good thing Bobby G. did as GM was keeping Price. When the news broke Halak was traded a few months later, what a relief.

But for Carey, if he did actually get traded that year, he’d probably have a cup.
