I am very confident, that if any of the three University of Michigan players are available when the number six pick comes up, the Red Wings will take any one of the three who's still undrafted. So don't get your hopes up if you are behind the Wings in the draft. I think the Red Wings should be able to claim a territorial right to players, in the Michigan area! We get all three of the Michigan players! (g) (I can dream!!!)
overrated
Are we sure this guy isn’t just one of Homer Simpson’s alter egos?
Luke Hughes to the devils or we riot
Dahlin, Power, Jokiharju, Borgen, Bryson, Samuelsson. Pretty good young D-core for Buffalo. Risto still leading the helm until he's traded.
The Sabres dont need Power, id rather they take Wallstedt, Beniers, or Eklund, trade down if they can
As a die hard Sabres fan I hope he just develops and pans out. With that being said we goin to the cup next year
Left or right handed
I think he could be a Hedman like player but not to that level
I feel bad for him
If the sabres take power they shouldn't have him debut until 2022 so that he can be better developed and that they have a better chance at getting shane wright
What was the last time a 1st overall pick didn't play right away??
As a Sabres fan, I'm fine with him being drafted. At the start of the year, I thought our defense was stronger than it turned out to be. I really only think Risto, Dahlin and McCabe are legit NHL defensemen on a winning team. Risto might not be around long, although I wish he would be. McCabe had a serious injury. Dahlin's development is in question. I'd say they're issues on the blue line for the blue and gold.
I'm not a fan of Jokiharju like others are. Although we have some other interesting young defensemen, there is plenty of need on defense.
If I were him, I would do anything to stay in Michigan as long as fucking possible. Maybe do a 5th year or something. Anyway to stay out of the hell that is Buffalol.
Lol weakest draft ever
I hope people temper their expectations of this draft class.
What a year for the Michigan Wolverines! I’m a big Michigan fan. This is going to be a fun year for them next season!
owen power retired after hearing who won the lottery
Remember how important these were last year, as a Sens fan
Most NCAA programs are desperate for funding with football being in limbo it wasn't surprising Michigan said no to powers leaving especially since they brought back Harbaugh to tank their football program.
Keep the faith 716
Buffalo: Ristolainen, Samuelsson, Jokiharju, Dahlin, Bryson, Miller, Irwin, Davidson, and McCabe. And I forgot about Borgen.
quite a lot of rankings have Johnson available at 9 tho… but TBH if Johnson goes, LA takes Guenther, and maybe DET takes Wallstedt, then VAN actually has a chance to get one of either Clarke, Hughes, or Edvinsson
imo tho Clarke should not make past 4…. sure AF shouldn’t make it past LA and SJS.
but if Johnson, Guenther, Wallstedt go… then Power, Benier, Eklund… that’s 6 players.
means 1 of Clarke, Hughes, or Edvinsson, would be available at 9
Edvinsson or Johnson IMO — unless DET and LA both decide not to take the goalie Wallstedt
then I guess VAN is left with Lambos, Raty, Lysell. naaaaybe Svozil.
Another Dman for the Sabres. They have no luck.
Thanks for the meters and kilograms Hockey Guy! This really helps us fellow Europeans
Poor guy, starting off with the Sabres…
It'd feel like having a sword of Damocles hanging over you. 🙄
Buffalo will ruin him.
Buffalo is a deathtrap now for good talent. I feel bad for him.
June 2022, Owen Power demands a trade.
I watched Power in the IHF World gold medal game between Canada and Finland. Power was not very good. Many, many mistakes. So how is this guy rated so highly by The Hockey Guy?
I really think waiting a year to bring him up to the NHL is going to do wonders for his development, the last few years have shown us that just because a player is picked at #1 doesn't mean they should be brought up right away
I've seen people say Owen power would drop to as far as 14 and holy Jesus they are stupid
Buffalo fan here and I'm nervous for him. On paper we've drafted and acquired the players to compete in terms of skill. This team just feels like it has no identity or leadership.
As far as Dahlin goes, yes he dropped off a bit this year but what Sabre didn't? If you look at his advanced stats, they're still in line with someone like Victor Hedman or Roman Josi, I think he's already elite, it just doesn't really show up if you're one defender on the worst team in the league.
As much as i like Power and want Power as a Sabre fan its not the Right pick. Sabres need goals, we are still in the low goal per game tier even with Sam and Jack and if they are gone it needs to be replaced as soon as Possible. Id be taking Matt Beniers over Power.
Everyone wants out of Buffalo so I am scared for him management there has a problem.
Power can say no buffalo.
I hope he pulls a lindros.
That would be great 😂
All these Sabres haters. Every team has hard times. Buffalo had literally 5 losing seasons before the tanking started.
Draft Owen Power and make him a forward, or move Rasmus Dahlin to forward – he reminds me of Nick Backstrom
Tage Thompson is 6'7, this guy is 6'5. Scary potential there.
I haven't seen a ton of him. Really just highlight reels. But he seems like a really good skater who from the accounts I've read has improved throughout the year. It seems like he'll have a really nice career.
Plus, a World Championship is better than a World Junior Championship for Power I think. The World Championship is a senior men's tournament. It's not a best-on-best competition, but it is a very competitive tournament where the pace and skill will be higher. It's also not common for teenage prospects to even play on that team, so being a contributor on a winning team as a teenager seems like a great boost for your profile.
The good thing for him too is that he also got game time this year in the NCAA, whereas many other prospects had much less or none at all because the OHL was cancelled this year and other leagues had reduced schedules. This may be the single most bizarre draft class in NHL history. I feel like there will be many wildcards and surprises this year.
I wonder if he commits to completing a degree just to stay out of Buffalo for four years.
He’s gonna be another Tyler Myers and I’m Sabres fan
It makes no sense for the Sabres to take Power, they want Dahlin to be their number one d man. Taking power just fucks everything up.
Imagine Power saying he won't play for Buffalo 🤣
Do Isak Rosén
I wonder if anything would change in the 2009 draft class top 2 if everyone had the benefit of hindsight (or foresight?) back then. No doubt Tavares is a stud, but considering the player that Hedman has developed into (even tho it took much longer) … it makes me wonder if he might not have gone #1 instead. Probably not in reality because teams crave #1 centers, still interesting to think about.
