What do the New York Rangers do next?

After making a big splash at the trade deadline, the New York Rangers find themselves out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after one round. What needs to happen next for the Rangers?

  1. if the "kids line" was your second line and not your third, and they did not make the trades for top 6 forwards, they would have won? the reaosn they had to get Terasenko and Kane is cause lafreniere and kakko never lived up to the hype. they may just not be a fit for the Rangers. but they have not developed the way you would expect.

  2. Could be worse, could of been the Bruins. Now that one is NHL heartbreak. Young legs beat the Rangers, flying up & down. I wouldn’t get too a analytical here, we just witnessed a typical NHL PS tournament series where ANY TEAM can win.

  3. Herb brooks said I’m not looking for the best players I’m looking for the right ones. The rangers got the best players but not the right ones

  4. This is what I’ve been thinking. Majority of the Rangers fanbase is going into panic mode saying we need to tank and start over and what not. That’s dead wrong. We just need to address the needs and withhold from the wants. Maybe try to resign Motte or Tarasenko, but let Kane walk. Get a solidified 3rd line D-Man to play with Schneids. But don’t over panic. We have a very talented team, but we need to keep the core that works together and just address the need of a defensive defenseman and maybe a grinder for the 4th line (which we have in Will Cuylle and Jonny Brodzinski in the AHL).

  5. Idk, too much drama. Still a deep team with plenty of youth. With the right offseason moves, they could be right at the top of the East. It wont take much, just a few tweaks … and this comes from someone who hopes it doesn't happen for them.

  6. You're out of your mind if you think Quenneville is replacing Gallant. Only reason this happens is if Dolan insists on it and Drury decides to place the blame squarely on Gallant, when it doesn't fall on just him. you're paying a player 11.6 mil a year to bring it every night and he gets 2 assists in a 7 game series and a metric ton of giveaways. It's a bandaid on an issue of too many cooks in the kitchen. Too many stars, not enough role players. They let Tarasenko and Kane walk in the offseason, see where Robertson is and that factors into whether they bring Mikkola back, and look to sign a north south guy who is going to shoot as soon as they touch the puck like Vatrano and they'll be right there in the conversation again next year. Because of their fans and the media, it's tough for the front office to not feel pressure to overreact and make changes every time they don't go to the final. Small changes while letting the young players come into their own is what they need here imo

  7. Call it out Drury went for old names Kane and The Tank and they are done. Drury needs to go not the coach

  8. A. Collection of players..is right they are the worst forechecking team i have ever seen ..this coach needs to go!!! Kane ..is done .nine top six fowards are soft!! Too much east west been saying that all year

  9. No balls !! This team totally soft ..too many skill guys not enough lunch bucket guys . They have no third line …chris drury is a fool

  10. The rangers are not built for the playoffs they are a glorified regular season team they are generally soft can’t handle speed they are so exhausted trying to get the puck out of there own zone they have nothing left for the offense coaching sucks .. and when the team sucks the puck usually is rolling on us and we make bone head plays , trouba stinks .. trade kane panerin tarensenko. Get a dog in there ..

  11. Ranger need to start over and get rid of all their fans and get new ones cause their fans are their downfall. Worst fanbase in the NHL

  12. I’d fire Drury before Gallant … He , like Davidson , put together a soft yet talented team for this years playoffs , with no time to help them gel !
It’s obvious that the addition of Copp , Vatrano , Motte and Braun … out played the superstars they brought in last year
Panarin has turned into a power play specialist in the last two playoffs ( Reminds me of the days of Bobby Rousseau )
Mgmt needs to have a serious conversation with Panarin about whether he wants to remain a Ranger or allow him to find another home ?
They even brought in Patrick Kane because he lobbied so hard for him
If the Rangers are serious about escalating the use of their younger players .. Quenville is not your guy !

  13. Rangers have 2 lines with first line caliber players. But 5 of those 6 guys are north of 30 years old and the 6th is 29.
Against a young, fast team they were getting dominated 5 on 5 and could only generate momentum on the powerplay in games 1/2/6, when that speed isn't as much of a factor.

I also have to disagree about the third line, those kids are not "first line" players. Rangers should be re-considering even keeping 2/3 (keep Chytil)

  14. He mentioned Kreider as more guys to get into the Grind…. What!?… LOL!!… Kreider is probably the least grindful, softest players in the whole entire NHL.

  15. Well, face it, we will never have another Messier for my Rangers or for my Yankees Mariana or Jeter.

  16. We should've stayed with a young roster for a few years like the devils this time next year we'd be going for cups!

  17. It takes a complete team to win championships it happens in baseball basketball and in hockey having a bunch of stars doesn't win each player has a job to do you don't see it on the tv but they are there doing there job
