When r big paid boys gonna step up.
David hit the nail on the head. The top scorers are terrified to park themselves in front of the net except for Bunting. Florida is intimidating them with thier rough play. Tampa was not nearly as physical with them and bad goaltending didn’t help thier cause.
The book has always been the same with the Leafs, get physical with their top players and they’ll turtle and that’s exactly what’s happening like it has in the other playoff years. Why Tampa didn’t do that is puzzling. You have to trade one of the core four for a grittier top player like Florida did with Tkachuk.
Time to panic was mid second period. At this point it’s time for the Hail Mary. 4/5 against this Panthers team is a hell of a long shot. Who is outplaying who and what the bs analytics show is irrelevant. Also the penalties are 8 for Leafs and 2 for Panthers. That’s going to even out as the series goes and that’s not good.
Just say we can't win if Bennett is playing, please help us NHL
The 3rd goal was comical but that was more Marner scared of getting hit so he played hot potato with the puck and gave Matthews no time to react. Matthews was not expecting the puck because what player does a drop pass in their own zone unless he’s terrified of getting hit.

Same boneheaded mistakes as playoffs past. Marner looks scared to take a hit and can't make a pass. Leafs need to score more than 2 goals a game, they aren't doing enough 5on5. Samsonov letting a soft goal per game reminds me of Anderson and Campbell. I'm not as optimistic as most, they got outplayed 4 out of 6 vs Tampa and were fortunate to win..

I go to the 3:20 mark of the episode, because of the start of a claim made by Mike about it almost being panic-time. That hours ago on City-TV Toronto morning show Breakfast TV, Sid Seixeiro (before his City-TV job a cohost of a Sportsnet weeknight show once known as Tim and Sid, but later renamed to Tim and Friends) claimed the Leafs would lose their 2023 conference semifinal (posted on the morning show’s YouTube channel and titled “‘The Leafs are done’: Sid’s thoughts on the Leafs’ Game 2 loss”) didn’t surprise me one bit because IMO it’s unlikely the Leafs will win that series.
