I'm all for it, wasn't a big fan of him.
Lego, its his shot… has no power what so ever. And defending, looks like a little boy in the school yard getting pushed around. Skating has it, first pass has it and I'd say that's it.
I think if I was to trade mete i'd need at least a 2nd round pick, he's still got let's of upside and is young anything less would be a steal
Edit I also cant see Montreal taking a current roster players given the depth unless it was on wing, so it would have to be a prospect
Mete's value is hard to determine.
is vatenen still on free agency
I don't see why the Montreal Canadiens would want to make a trade with Vancouver. I can see Mete being traded, but when he is will be to an American market. What can Vancouver offer Montreal that is realistic and that we need currently? We can't take on any more cap hit and we don't need more draft picks and we have not yet face injury on the blue line. I'd rather we keep our depth and we already a D Man to waiver this year.
Montreal will try and squeeze ima high end pick out of Vancouver for mete since they need defence. They do not want a roster player I’d say prob a second round mer
id rather just keep him for depth at this point. He wont fetch enough on the market to make trading him away worth it.
Montreal wouldn't trade Mete
If MB is smart he holds on to him until a team is absolutely desperate. Worst case he kept debt in case there’s an injury, best case he gets a absolutely massive trade done. I’m talking n.1 pick involved here. So yeah sorry Canucks not trading him now.
Mete or Dunn would be nice to have on the squad, but I hope that doesn't push Juolevi out of the top 6
I wouldn’t trade him , we need all the defence we can get ( injuries are coming ) why strengthen anyone in your division?
Go nuckkosssss
Man I was legit just about to close the video 😆
Sure we will take 2 first rounders Lou Eriksson
Mete's value isn't as high as his possible potential, although I doubt he's going to become more than 3rd pair. Probably better to take a chance and keep him than the opposite depending on the offer
Mete is already elite in transition, like top 10 in the entire NHL, and has the best +/- on the team in the past 3 years, which at the very least shows he is not a nuisance out there. People who criticize him are clueless. I would much rather have him in the lineup vs. Edmundson, but since the latter is earning big bucks, at the very least Mete is a high quality backup for when injuries strike.
Mete as a cheap, 7D has more value than any offer out there except a 1st round pick. So he's not going anywhere.
Why would Mtl help the Canucks? Many others need some def and i see no chance of a canadian team trading with a canadian team.
Mete for Petterson, straight up! 😀
If I'm Marc Bergevin, then I wouldn't take LESS that a prospect and a 2nd round pick at the next upcoming draft. The reason being is that Mete's (a restricted free agent) full value is really unknown but he does know how to move the puck and that Canucks can use him.
Habs aren’t giving away Mete. The only way they would trade him is if they need other players or an other team sends something spectacular back. But we got so much depth. So not going to happen.
I dont see how the habs trade mete. The habs will definitely have some injuries on the blueline so this would make no sense. He only makes 700k so what would we get in return? The habs are so close to the cap that they can't take on another contract. They'd have to bring back another 700-850k player. A draft pick? Nah. Stick with what you got. Mete is more than capable of playing nhl hockey. Keep him
a 22y top 6, possible top 4 d… maybe worth a 2nd and a prospect?
macewen, gadjovich, and a 3rd would do it. mete is NHL caliber but there's no room for him in montreal and the situation will only get worse for him once players like norlinder, guhle, and struble show up.
Too small! Canucks need bigger D man
But if you have a Hughes, why would you need a Mete? As a Habs fan i'd tell you it doesnt seem to be a fit, don't the nukcs need a RD instead?
Yup, trade Mete for draft picks and that should solve Montreal's cap problem.
I am kind of shocked Montreal put Juulsen on waivers before Mete
EW.
He's supposed to be an offensive guy cuz he's small… he has FOUR CAREER GOALS. in 171 games. Garbage.
If I'm Bergevin, I don't trade him unless the return is big. A D-man WILL get hurt at some point, and you're gonna be happy you kept Mete. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when. Condensed schedules mean more injuries and more games lost to injuries for each injury. The Habs really don't have many guys they can go get out of Laval on the blue line. CapFriendly lists 5, plus Cale Fleury who's on the taxi squad for now. Most of their D prospects are in Europe, the CHL or college.
Mete for Boeser and Pettersson.
It worked in NHL 2021………….after I modded the game.
Bergervin loves to stock up on D men…he's not giving one up when he doesn't have to.
I'm a Habs fan. I don't think it's fair to hold Mete and not play him but we don't need anything. I would ask for a 2nd round pick.
I don't see it happening unless there's a good return for Mete but if it happens, he will help the Nucks for sure. Not a big guy but very good skater and doesn't make many mistakes. Listining to the video and have to add, Mete was not only used from time to time, he was used on the first pair with Weber for a while and even after Chariot arrived, he still played every game. He certainly have the potential to become an offensive D with great defense skills.
Knowing Bergevin, I would imagine he sees the value that Mete has as a depth Dman. On alot of other teams, Mete cracks the bottom 4 easily, and he's proven he can play Top 4 in a pinch. Seeing as Mete isn't even playing, I imagine his stock is on the low side even considering his play, ability and experience, so Montreal gets at best a Depth Forward (which the have in Frolik, Perry, Weal, Belzile, etc) and/or a 3rd round pick or lower (Montreal has 9 picks between rounds 3-5 this year). I think Mete, being Montreal's best option in the Depth D Pool, is worth holding on to at this point, especially considering his speed, playstyle, the fact he can play pretty much anywhere in the lineup, and is still only 22. The Canucks (or any other team) would have to overpay pretty significantly I'd imagine for MB to even consider it. Unless he's a value addon for a package deal (Danault?) I don't see the value of trading him for pieces you don't need.
Also have to consider the expansion draft coming. They have Allen, who will be expendable if Primeau progresses like we're all hoping and jumps into the backup role next year, but why not make them choose between Mete and Allen. Allen will probably have more trade value than Mete at that point if Seattle were to pick Mete and they still want to move him.
For me, Mete, like his weird personality, is that guy with a really weird sets of skills. Very good defensive IQ, zero physicality, good transition, bad shot, and mediocre offensive IQ. Mete is the most niche player in the NHL as the most effective small and soft defensive D.
Maybe Adam Gaudette for Mete?
I don't see any reason for the Habs to move Mete, to be honest. He's an NHL-caliber defenseman, with a very cheap contract, who's only out of the line-up because of Romanov's arrival. He's exactly what the Habs need as a 7th D, especially on such a tight schedule. Could he be made available in a trade ? Absolutely. But it would have to be to fill a need in the current line-up, and right now…I'm not sure the Habs have any. Not saying they couldn't get even better, but that's the point…if Mete is to be traded, it'll be for something more valuable to the organisation's current line-up. And I'm not sure Mete's value is high enough to achieve that right now, at least not by himself.
As far as the waiver thing goes…forget about it. Bergevin always proned depth, especially on defense. He's not placing Mete on waivers. The team made a choice between him and Juulsen a few weeks ago, and he's gonna keep rolling with Mete on the roster, until he gets presented something he just can't pass up. But Mete on waivers…not gonna happen.
I see Mete as another Quinn Hughes. Canucks will eventually turn into a high scoring team.
I know Pettersson wants out. Mete for the kid. Fair deal.
I am not even sure that it is something we can work from there. Roussel and Rathbone are something of interest and Paul Byron could be of use as well… The main target is Boeser but Habs don't need RW as of now…
As a habs fan i would want Petey hughes JT Miller humm and a first
Loui Eriksson for Victor Mete
Draft picks. maybe a 3rd , I doubt u could get a second round pick
Habs have the depth at d to just trade for draft pick . Give them more breathing room with the cap .
2nd rd draft pick i think would be more than fair
Juolevi and Mete back together?
Demko trade got Cancel wt Wild Minessota…..looking for plan B?
Mete Is Good ….The D Line Up is just Pack tight…hes got to play anyway….Trade would be a Favorable move for is Carrier To Be Honest……
