Your nuts and dont know what the hell you are talking about. The Redwings traded a 25 yr old D man with 38 points and plus 8 for draft picks. This trade just assured that the Wings tread water. The NHL is a win now league when its 4 years into a rebuild. Yzerman does not identify talent until they have him over a barrell , then pays top dollar or lose them for nothing, in this case future players for a top star D man. Resigning Zadina was utterly stupid waste of money. Giving Copp 5.6 million per for 5 yrs- insane. There a guy named Cross Hanas taken in the 2nd round that is the lamest worst defensive player Ive ever seen. Soderblum- 3rd round cant skate. Stevie only hits on #1 picks. Hes burnt out like Dumars was after building a champ team.

Condition on the pick is from the Islanders whose pick it was originally. It's top 12 protected so if they fall off and wind up with a top 12 pick this year, they get it back and we get Vancouver's 1st next year instead.

Smart move in the stacked Atlantic division. Had to be done to compete with teams like Boston, Toronto, Tampa and even buffalo and Ottawa. Likely going to be the hardest division in hockey the next 10 years
