Much to the dismay of some Montreal Canadiens fans, the past few days have had rumours coming from Elliotte Friedman and Darren Dreger reporting that the Habs were extraordinarily interested in New York Rangers defenceman Tony DeAngelo.

DeAngelo, 24, has had his fair share of documented character issues in the past, and is in a precarious state in his NHL career.

  1. Being a Habs fan, I think Bergevin wants DeAngelo because he feels he has veterans who can keep the kid in line.
Weber, Perry, Stall to name only them yeah I see why Marc was interested if he thought he could turn what is a reclamation project into the player he was meant to be.

  2. That would be a massive slap in the face to anyone who witnessed the way they handled the Subban situation…and a slap in the face for any respectable fan in general.

  3. He doesn't deserve to play at all imo. He lost that right. Too many lines were crossed.

  4. He can change. Bergevin is seeing something that we don’t see. I think that there was a big plan for him and I’m all in for this guy next year. I think will help the longevity for the right side and would help them to get to the next level.

  5. I think DeAngelo is a great player. Had some issues with fighting bit if he can get over that and try to act better he seems like a cool dude. Not some pc sotboy I think he would be cool to hang out with

  6. I think Tony deAngelo for Shane Ghostisbehere would be fair – works for both teams

  7. They traded Subban because of his attitude supposedly yeah let's trade for a guy 100 times more of a locker room cancer in DeAngelo what could possibly go wrong in that

  8. With his track record I wouldn't touch this guy with a 10 foot pole!!! He will be lucky to play in the KHL or Europe next year!?!

  9. Bergevin preaches Character but he doesn't exactly practice it with having signed guys like Nick Cousins, a guy who sexually assaulted a girl in Junior and he also hired Sean Burke who beat his wife. These are things that will be questioned even if the guys change.

  10. Everyone seems to forget he has a history of racism along with what happened with fighting his goalie and political views. So if that is who you want representing the Habs we completely disagree on the right locker room culture the team has

  11. If this guy gets a second chance it needs to be in a small USA market where he can just fly under the radar in the media, bringing in a pr nightmare to a Canadian market and to Montreal of all places where the media can be toxic on a good day and a fan base that is calling for someone’s head after ever loss not a headache I’d want to take on as a GM. Make sure your passport is updated kid your next landing spot should be Siberia.

  12. If this story is true, Bergevin is under pressure to produce a winner now particularly with all his off-season moves

  13. There is no way DeAngelo will get anything near 5.3M on his next contract. I guess his agent is good at math.

  14. The issue is Tony is good. He had 53 points last year but he's a dirt bag

  15. In every team he played there was leadership. This guys is just a lose nut, that too bad because he has a lot of talent. It seems he never gets any message. The best place he will play in the future is the KHL. Would be pretty surprised to see him play in the NHL again.

  16. As a ranger fan , rangers made a big mistake not having a captain and real leaders in the locker room to help these young guys grow up , tony d is a young talented player who will be a power play specialist and big part of some teams offense .. rangers will regret this down the road .
