Agree with rick about adding vet goalie next year. Yah I too was thinking they need some help in net but if we can instead solve the team D issue or let me rephrase this… THEY HAVE TO solve the team D issue the sloppy play in front of the net which will make every goalie look bad ( see either Stanley Cup winning goalie Brayden Holtby or respected veteran goalie Jaroslav Halak's play behind this teams defense for reference ). Both those veteran signings got us nowhere. When we solve that issue then Spencer Martin as a cheap back up will be just fine.
PS I keep wondering why they need to get rid of Conner Garland. His cap hits not that bad as everyone makes it out to be and his play isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be he's a digger and a worker with a modicum of skill and he's played far better than Brock Boeser overall. Plus he has a chance under his new old coach Tocchet to be remade and I'd like to see what Rick can do with this guy. And I doubt we'd get much for him right now since his rep has been run through the mud of late. We certainly won't get a 15- 20 goal scorer for him which is where he's in the region to be in just like last year.
BTW does anyone remember Alex Chiasson ? Or how about Brad Richardson ? They were both effective for us last year and we let them go for nothing just because…
