  1. Ovechkin just lost his dad, could go either way the remainder of the season. (Condolences)
Caps'll be fine without enforcer Hawthorne now that Wilson's back from injury.

  2. Caps have lost 6 straight now and have looked completely miserable doing so. Squeak in to get spanked by Boston? Nah Iā€™ll take a white flag on the season and trying a retool.

  3. Bruins fan here. While I do enjoy watching Steve blow a gasket especially come playoff time, this was a fun video. I legitimately guffawed at least twice.

To Steve's comment about the Bruins thinking Chychrun was overpriced, the rumoured ask was: BOS 1st round pick 2023, Swayman OR Debrusk, Fabian Lysell (BOS top prospect), and Brett Harrison (BOS 2021 3rd round pick, having a lowkey good season in the OHL with 2 teams). Additionally, Arizona would not retain salary nor take any cap dumps.

Kudos to the caps for making the deal. Is it really worthwhile to go all in to make the playoffs only to get bounced by potentially record setting Bruins squad or an almost as impressive Canes team in the 1st round? With the thought of prices maybe coming down, did they make themselves a potential trade partner with Arizona for Chychrun? They need defensemen signed past this season, and now got 3 additional draft picks to play around with. Might be a scenario of taking 1 step back to make 2 steps forward.

  4. I wish the caps kept Hathaway, I liked his game, but Orlov makes way too many dumb decisions and turnovers and was not worth the 8 year contract he wanted

  5. Leafs trade rating: 4.5 … the addition to the top 6 was not what the needed, but its all that Dubas knows. Is it true Taveras is the new $11M 3rd line center?
Bruins trade rating: 8.5 … adds another very good D-man and very good grinding bottom 6 player who will make the Bruins a tighter playoff built team. Adding to a great Bruins team makes them nearly unstoppable. Definitely to the final 4.

  6. Hathaway is going to be the 2023 version of the 2011 Shawn Thornton. The Bruins 4th line is going to terrorize their opponents.

  7. As a Washington fan, I'm thrilled. Caps need to focus on next season not trying to limp into the playoffs without Carlson just to lose in the 1st round for the 5th straight year. Plenty of other UFAs they should sell too. I don't expect them to be done. Laviolette's contract is up this summer. Perfect transition time for Washington to hire a coach that wants to play young players.

  8. Keeping guys out of line up males me think the players involed will go down with an injury or come at a high risk . If not they would b in the lineup

  9. Ok, call me simple, but wouldnā€™t it be cheaper from a draft pick perspective for the Leafs to just draft bigger players, with talent. Then they wouldnā€™t have to give away all their draft picks. Just sayinā€¦.

  10. Your move Doobie, lets get some grit on the defence. I'm wondering if Tampa will do anything to counter Toronto and Boston…

  11. As a Caps fan, I love both Orly and Hathaway. I'm so sad they're gone. But, the team has been total garbage recently so I appreciate the business side of it. As a fan of not the Bruins, this is an insane upgrade for the Bruins. A top 4 (or maybe 2) defenseman and a Bruin who was playing in Washington. For more context – Hathaway is from Maine and went to Brown.

  12. Edmonton needs to be in on either gavrikov or chykrun, both are more defense oriented than the rumored Karlsson deal. Would be way cheaper options and easier to manage with the cap.

  13. Another Caps fan who follows Steve Dangle here: GM Brian MacLellen is kinda stuck in a bind. They want to compete as much as possible before Ovi retires, but the team is slanted to miss the playoffs or, at best, be bounced with ease in the first round by Boston or Carolina. In addition, the team is currently up against the cap and, as Steve astutely points out, they have very few players (and no currently playing defensemen) signed through next year. Even if I think that Orlov has always been an underrated defensemen and the Caps deserved more in return for him, this trade had to be made. Keeping this team together for no immediate reason would be GM malpractice.

  14. I'm incredibly excited to see what the caps do, at both the deadline and the offseason. With as many players being pending free agents as they have, it'll be a year of wild turnover.

  15. Looking at MIN:

Kevin Weekes pointed out MIN may have set a trend of teams looking to act as a middle man for bigger trades

  16. Old Boston hockey player, good trade, I admit I'm a little hesitant to change anything, if it ain't broke theory. But it's a good addition, what a year, in my 60 years of watching the B's, never have I seen a record like theirs, WOW! Great show brother.šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ’šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

  17. If you look at the way Cap Friendly shows the trade….Orlov goes THROUGH Minnesota. So from the Podcast , Jesse Blake wrong, Adam and Steve right.

  18. ok ok let me just say i am not listening to this or any other rant you have put out while the Leaf's are riding high. but seriously man, your life as you know it will be so sadly destroyed ,because of this team, When they are sadly out played, out manned, and head off to yet another early departure from playoff / Stanley cup contention to the green and less stateable green grass of the golf course, come early May . Just be prepared to have your world implode.

  19. As a lifelong Bruins fan I love this trade!! It's all in on winning the Cup, and now have four solid lines and a very good defense. Sorry Steve, but this was a better tradeline deal than the Leafs!!

  20. They couldn't get gav without clearing space and on the outside view it looks a hell of a lot like caps came in offering to take smith and that shifted boston's eyes from gav to orlov/hathaway. I'm sure it's a little more complicated and some details are wrong because I'm just a schmuck on the internet but that's what it looks like. I think it's pretty funny that rumors of the front office of the jackets are pissed are coming out. do they have the right to be mad? sure, but the caps trade was the better offer. filled depth d and got a forward.

I don't think boston is done either, with reilly playing like he did tonight in the ahl, with lauko's play and with nosek being healthy and ready to return I'd be shocked if one or two of those guys aren't moved to bring cap space in and maybe some more depth.

  21. Okay so the Bruins got depth, toughness and sneaky scoring ability on their blue line with Dmitri Orlov and a tough to play fourth liner in Garnet Hathaway. I like it, don't love it but, I do like it and may prove to be important for team depth when things get really tough.

  22. Man your a smart hockey guy and I watch your videos but something I really hate and I stop watching the rest of the videos is when you start yelling your voice sounds sooooo annoying that I actually unsubscribed if you stop doing that I would subscribe again, I know what I say and do doesn't matter to you but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that thinks this way, you can yell but that screeching sound has to stop. Thanks and Go Bruins

  23. Great. As if my Red Wings' upcoming back-to-back with the Bruins wasn't already going to be a beatdown…
