Now that the preseason is over, the Canucks will have some difficult roster decisions to make.

Fact of the matter is Gaudette played well enough to make the team. By sending him down it sets a bad precedent to future players who want to make the team. Regardless of development either in Utica or Canucks, it’s up to JB to clear a spot for him on the team to thrive. What happens next year when he does the same thing and Sutter and Beagle are still on the squad? Trade? That trade should happen now because of his performance. Nevertheless with 17 forwards left and Boeser/Roussel being injured, Schaller and maybe Eriksson/Goldy likely being sent down it leaves room for Gaudy on the team as a third line winger with Baer and Sutter.

Schaller havent impressed and can get waived without getting taken. And if they dont waive Loui they need a superfast trade with one of the guys clay talks about so gaudette can stay. He deserves that so much
100% Schaller and Goldy get sent down. Goldy is a bum and Schaller just isn't good enough for NHL. Trade Virtanen for a bag of pucks!!!! Guy is a complete bust!!!

Send Brisbois down for now and begin working on a trade for goldie to make room! No use in just sending goldie down just to get claimed by the Flyers or something. Guadette stays!

I want Virtanen on the team, and I think guadette should make the team but only if he gets third line . think it was beartchi he had chemistry with ? he needs to play with him.. Other wise.. play as first line team star in utica. give him some time to get better,.
Why is everybody saying "is it best for Gaudette to make the team but then only get 10 mins per night".. To that I say, why would he get only 10 mins per night when he's one of our best players at the moment? He's playing lights out relative to last season, so why would you imply he would get last year's minutes if he makes the team this season? He would get 3rd line minutes unless his play starts to fall off…but out of fairness to Gaud, it should not be assumed that his play will fall off.
How about Gaudette as the first line right winger if Brock’s out for a bit to start the year. 😝

Gaudette should make the team. He’s very good on the offensive side and yes, there’s always room for improvement on his defensive game. However, he’s a proven goal scorer, he can get the puck for his teammates, and knows where his teammates are when making a pass. Sending him back to Utica is not a bad idea, but I think it would tamper his development a little bit. After playing a handful of NHL games last season, it’s time for Gaudette to play with the guys full time now.

The concept of making the team is a bad one. The concept of what are you doing for me lately is one that is employed in the NHL on a regular basis and should be extended to Adam Gaudette and any other player who performs. Gaudette has to be playing the opening games with the Canucks as he showed he was one of the best performers out there. The ones that didn't perform get to take a seat in the press box and be healthy scratches until Gaudette falters to the point where they have to send him down to the minors for his and the team's good. They only have to trim the roster by three so LTIR for Rosie and waivers for Schaller and Fantenburg. You play press box shuffle with the likes of Eriksson, Motte, Virtanen and Goldy and maybe they wake up eventually and decide they want to be NHL players full time. That way you don't lose any of your prospects and maybe you can get them more ice when the injury bug hits.
The fact that Eriksson has flatline stats playing against a preseason team full of inexperienced players is an indication of another write-off season and should be eliminated from the roster already, for the sake of team morale and appreciation of season ticket holders. He is just holding up the spot when other deserving players are eager to fight for the opportunity. I think there is a psychological term for Benning knowing he made a toxic investment decision but still decided to make use of whatever value there is left of him. It is some kind of syndrome if anybody can help me name this term, thanks.
